Republicans appear not to have a clue as to how to tailor their message to Hispanic voters and still hold their traditional white non-Hispanic voter base in the crucial California and Texas elections for governor.

"In California, we're going to do nothing and hope Hispanics don't know there's an election in November," quipped a Republican campaign adviser there who expects his party's Hispanic outreach effort to make a difference in future elections but not by this November.

Based on this article, Bush's attempts to appease hispanics with amnesty are going to be just as successful as his attempts to appease Arab terrorists.

Texas will go the way of California unless Republicans figure out how to appeal to Hispanic voters. I think it's time to push for a guest-worker program to defuse the illegal situation. If we don't we're just going to have amnesty after amnesty until half of South America is here and voting Democratic.

"Hispanics", whatever that means, appear to vote as a block in Arizona only because the family oriented Republicans can't get their McCain pompous butts out of the country club.
Established legal long timer Amer-Mex don't like the new wave of welfare brats coming north (or the white welfare brats here now), don't like abortion, like to work for pay, and most of those families are darn near fanatic about getting their kids through more education with each generation.
That's not P.C. nor FreeRep p.c. but it's just MHO from living here and talking to the people.
Where do the Young Republicans go to recruit and to spread their message? They rent a booth at the fair and sit down waiting for questions.
Where do the Young Democrats go to recruit and to spread their message? Mercados, car shows, walk the neighborhoods, any school that teaches conversational English.
Yes, Republicans do not have an effective approach to "Hispanic" voters.

The unstated fact here is that illegal aliens ARE in fact "born Democrats" and they are voting in overwhelming numbers, all across the southwest--including California and Texas.

If the Republicans want to survive, they must begin a rapid and total sweep and deportation of illegals.

Apparently they don't want to survive.

Republicans appear not to have a clue as to how to tailor their message to Hispanic voters and still hold their traditional white non-Hispanic voter base in the crucial California and Texas elections for governor...

One major problem has been the administration's effort to court Hispanic voters, especially President Bush's proposal to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants in this country. The Republican-controlled House passed the measure just before the Easter recess; now it will be taken up in the Senate.

Republican officials in both states have used the word "stunned" to describe the impact of the amnesty proposal on the Republican voting base.

And the evidence just keep rolling in that President Bush is indeed, a genius.

However, what may be more important than whether Hispanics are represented in any party's ticket is the "tremendous, simmering resentment in parts of the state over what people see as a total takeover by people from Mexico," said a high-ranking California Republican Party official, speaking on the condition of anonymity.

Partly because of that resentment, Republicans say they will not fashion a campaign strategy targeting Hispanic voters in California....

Mr. Bush's amnesty proposal is not going to be used as an issue to appeal to Hispanics in California because it may backfire on Republicans, creating the public impression that they are shamelessly pandering to the Hispanic vote.

"Given our party's history in California, trying to capitalize on that [amnesty] vote could very well be seen as patronizing by Hispanic voters," Mr. Johnson said.

See?

As I posted on another thread--I knew a Amer-Mex lady who was just as you describe. Spanish was NOT spoken at home even though the school social worker criticized her family. She knew that for her children to be a successful member of this society, they had to speak English and blend with the culture.

She also expressed the opinion that US citizens were getting messed over by Mexican illegals in our system.

The Washington Times has done an excellent job nailing this story right down to the whole underlying truths which shall determine the ultimate winners in both California and Texas. Those state GOP leaderships almost sound like that of Maryland's. :-(

Your solution requires a spiritual strength not apparent among our 'leaders' and the public in general. Good Lord! One would actually have to EXCLUDE! Gasp!

The present invasion of America is merely the opening paragraph of a book written in blood.

Manny Aldana -A New Republican

Take a look at this guy. Manny Aldana.

He is in the heart of beast and he doesn't get any help from the Republican Party. The republican consultants just keep up the chant, "He can't win". They should get fired and we should find people who have news ideas. This guy and others are the face of the New Republican Majority.

Manny is not a computer person but I am sure that he would like to hear from some Freepers. I am going to do some video work for Manny but he needs contact with some Los Angeles Freepers to put up a good fight.

That is the key to the article and your post right here Sabertooth.

They got themselves into this mess, now they can get themselves out of it. (MAP)

And they can get themselves out of it without my help. I refuse to play second fiddle to an illegal alien.

Too many words in the first sentence. "Republicans appear not to have a clue." would have done nicely. Kicking non-citizens out of the country in one huge, sustained effort is what is necessary, not trying to figure out a way of pandering to them.

Republicans haven't a clue. They refuse to accept one when it's offered, too.

The GOP is shooting itself in the foot in California. The last good Republican in this state was Pete Wilson. Pandering to the illegals here will just lose them their base. Lungren found this out in 1998 by not speaking out against the illegal alien invasion.

The present invasion of America is merely the opening paragraph of a book written in blood.

And the foreward was written in the L.A. Riots in 1992.

Two-thirds of those arrested were Latinos, but racial pandering by our corrupt City Council prevented us from learning what portion of those were Illegals.

And the evidence just keep rolling in that President Bush is indeed, a genius.

I've been trying not to think of Bush lately. I used to be a diehard supporter, now the mention of his name makes me ill.

I thought he'd make great strides for conservatism, instead, in only one year he's set us back greatly. Even further than a Dem with a GOP opposition would have.

I'm honestly starting to wonder if he's on some kind of crusade to stick it to conservatives who stuck it to his father. If that's not it maybe it's some other kind of pathology at work, as I simply can't understand the direction of his domestic policy. Anyone who thinks this man is a conservative has their head buried deep in their a$$ and is in denial of the fact that his domestic initiatives are simply not good for this nation.

Nice guy and a good CiC, but I have no respect for centrist/moderate RINOS who put party politics and their own ass before the Constitution, and conservatism.

I've bit the bullet for years and supported the lesser of 2 evils. I'm past the point of being sick and tired, and I just won't do it anymore.....ever. I don't care if Joseph Stalin himself were running against Bush or any other RINO. The only Repubs that get my vote from now on are conservatives and those who have half a clue of the intent our founding documents. No more votes for bridge builders or those who "accept the reality" of modern politics.

LET THE PARTY BURN

I was right in the middle of it. I personally saw our little brothers sack the bank across the street. They were illegals and/or bore true allegiance to Mexico e.g. they had that nations flag.
