No one moralizes better than the French, but where are they when you really need them? French political leaders have been busy denouncing Israel for defending itself against suicide bombers, but perhaps they should save some of that Gallic moral temper for the worst outbreak of anti-Semitism in Europe in 60 years.

Leave it to the French, to surrender at the first sign of trouble... To Arafat.

Of course, they're biggest strategic claim to fame was the Maginot Line, so what does that tell us???

Don't forget, not only did the French fall over themselves to surrender to the Germans in WWII,
they also fell over themselves betraying Jews to the SS.

Why would they have improved their moral character since then?

Reminds me of the old joke:

Q: Why are all the streets to Paris lined with shade trees?
A: Because German soldiers don't like to march in the sun...

With their condemnation of Israel, the Europeans continue their grand tradition of appeasement. To these weakminded liberals I say: "Step aside, Francois; for there are others who will gladly lead the way to victory in the War on Terrorism."

Great point! After All it was in France that the start of the WW-2 Jewish Persecution of Jews started. Which by the way played no little part in Jews needing there own homeland. No matter sphere of human activity if you find something seedy and dirty from figure skating to world politics just listen for a french accent.

The French Front National (which has some Jewish leaders) has been warning for years this would happen if France didn't tighten up immigration. For their efforts, the left, including many French Jews, called them Nazis, facists and antisemites. Now the FN and other right-wingers are the ones out in the streets protecting Jews from Muslim terror. the problem here is not the French. The problem is socialists.

We must also remember the infamous Dreyfus Affair

The Dreyfus Affair

IN SPITE OF LEGAL EQUALITY and progressing integration into Western societies at the end of the 19th century, anti-Semitism remains a threat to Jews. But anti-Semitic attacks are now opposed by people who take up the continued discrimination of Jews as an issue of human rights. The greater integration, but also the greater exposure to anti-Semitic discrimination, is reflected in the Dreyfus Affair, an anti-Semitic incident that engaged French society and the political forces for many years.

In 1894, Captain Alfred Dreyfus, an officer on the French general staff, is accused of spying for Germany, France's opponent in the last war. The only evidence is a scrap of paper, retrieved from the wastebasket by a cleaning woman, with handwriting that does not much resemble that of Dreyfus. But Dreyfus is Jewish, the only Jew on the general staff. And Jews are considered people without a fatherland, insufficiently loyal to the country they live in.

Dreyfus is convicted, partly on evidence forged by anti-Semitic officers, and sentenced to life imprisonment on Devil's Island off the coast of South America. At his public demotion, a crowd - incited by the anti-Semitic press - shouts anti-Jewish slogans. A journalist publicizes Dreyfus's cause, but the real culprit, Major Esterhazy, whose guilt is now known to the government, continues to be protected.

link: The Dreyfus Affair

An anti-Dreyfus poster: Jews are being driven out of France. The caption reads: "Long live France! Long live the Army! Down with the Jews! Death to the traitors!" The poster also calls for a boycott of Jewish shops.

Sickening.

Irony is, I'm at UC Davis (yeah, Kalifornia liberal hell...), and the Jewish people I know there are great people- they never say a mean word, are very kind, very considerate.
The free-Palestine crowd, however, are loud, obnoxious, lying turds. I get in their face every chance I get, tell them all the PLA terrorists need to be killed.

They don't like me much...

Be well,

Suicide bombing got it's start in Lebanon, was put on industrial footing by the Palestinians, had it's most deadly assault on 9/11. Where will we see it next? I'm betting on France. What will Chirac and the land of 1000 cheeses do then?

The French public should have questioned whether the command had anything of strategic importance after they were spanked so efficiently in the Franco-Prussian War. The French can't be so much Anti-Semetic as they hate everybody else (who is not French) anyway ;-)

France is home to 600,000 Jews.

What would it take? A couple dozen Jews with guns to have France begging to surrender tomorrow at noon?

Actually, if I'm not mistaken, isn't Yasser Arafat's wife, Sufa, French? Interesting connection...Somebody verify this for me.

ROFLOL!!!

As I understand it, all new recruits in the French Army are taught, as part of their basic training, how to say "I surrender" in Arabic...

Perhaps they should also include Yiddish, cover all the bases???

Hmmmmmmmmm...

I can just see the note for terms sent by the Palistinians: Surrender... or surrender.

The French: OK!
