I liked the speech
It reads much better than people here seem to think
Bush wants to diffuse, divide and conquer
Also, sending Colin Cancer powell is perfect since the media will never their boy 'fail'
After this sutuation is diffused, we can then go after iraq

It's simple - Bush has given Sharon a face-saving way to withdraw. A brilliant 'strategery'!

Interesting their choices of headlines. I have read the speech a couple of times now and it is decidedly directed at the Palestinians and the Arabs. I see a serious reprimand and a warning to the Arab nations. He also called Arafat a failure.
Rush is hammering on the Israeli angle too.

Decades of bitter experience teach a clear lesson: Progress is impossible when nations emphasize their grievances and ignore their opportunities. True of every individual on the face of the earth as well as every nation. This is a beautifully crafted speech. I hope everyone hears it and reads it.

To the contrary, suicide bombing missions could well blow up the best and only hope for a Palestinian state.
This is actually a very hopeful statement.
Perhaps soon, we'll recognize the legitmate purpose for Jordan's existence isn't to be a haven for Saudi-displaced Hashemites...
Because Jordan is actually Palestine.

Latest reports IDF to end its mission in 72 hours.......a far cry form the 4-8 weeks they were saying just yesterday..Bush pressured them
To: newsperson999
Even though Bush's call to Sharon is a pretty newsworthy part is his message (though it may be a politically calculated one), these headlines miss the central point of the message - that Arafat & the Palestinian terrorist groups, as well as their supporters in Iran & Syria, have been called to task for their duplicity.
Being president often requires diplomatic language. But this seems like a strong message nonetheless.

And to those who would try to use the current crisis as an opportunity to widen the conflict: Stay out. That's pretty clear.

Somehow, this transcript doesn't sound quite like what I envisioned after reading your thread.

Good speech..but the news of the day is that Bush asked Israel to end it's mission, well I guess its time to wrap up the US war too.... Yes, but at the same time, Powell doesn't get there until next week to get the parties to sign off. Israel could do a lot in the next seven or so days, and then agree to withdraw...
To: newsperson999
Hmmmm, those match your bogus headline from the earlier thread you started on the same subject. How does it feel to be as "in touch" as the mainstream media? Especially now that you can read the whole speech.
