As soon as I am done with my current series of novels I am going to write a book about the entire Klamath Falls experience.
What a few loyal, God-fearing AMerican farmers and ranchers were able to accomplish there, with the help of activism stirred on by Freerepublic, is a story everyone should hear.
The source material is already on the net based on my numerous eye witness accounts that were posted here on FR and elsewhere. You can see them (if you haven't already) at the following site. It's a story well worth the time.
THE STAND AT KLAMATH FALLS
How Rural western farmers and ranchers took on entrenched
environmentalism and the Federal Government...and won!
My favorite words concerning our Republic come from John Adams:
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other."- John Adams, Oct. 11, 1798They are just as true today...particularly todfay when we see the very essences of these principles being trampled in so many places.
