World Jewry Rises Up In Support Of Israel
Even as anti-Semitism around the world is increasing, demonstrations of support of Israel are also on the rise. Demonstrations scheduled for this Sunday include:
* In Toronto, up to 10,000 Jews are expected to rally against worldwide terrorism and in support of Israel this coming Sunday (4 PM in Queens Park).
* Washington, D.C. at the Washington Monument, Sunday, April 7, between 10:30 to 12 noon.
* New York City, outside the Israeli Consulate at 42nd St & 2nd Ave, Sunday morning 11 AM, concluding with a march to the United Nations, where protestors will denounce the UN's continued anti-Israel stand.
* Miami Beach - at the Holocaust Memorial, 19th and Meridian, Sunday, 6 PM
* Los Angeles - Federal Building, Wilshire Blvd. and Veteran Ave., Sunday, 2 PM
This past Sunday, over 6,000 South African Jews of all stripes gathered in Johannesburg in a united expression of solidarity for Israel and their brethren under fire.
IsraelAlive, a grassroots organization actively involved in organizing much pro-Israel support, reminds those who are interviewed on the media to make their points succinctly.
It recommends that the following points be stressed: Israel finds itself in a war against the Moslem world that is trying to ethnically cleanse the region of Jews; "Kill the Jews" is preached in Moslem media, schools, and mosques. In addition, there have been over 12,000 terror attempts on Israel in the last 18 months, and that Western countries would not be likely to "negotiate" with such enemies under similar circumstances.
Somehow or other, there are no rallies in support of suicide bombers, no chants of "death to the Moslems" or "death to the Palestinians," no threats to throw an entire region of the world into war, etc. Compare & contrast with Moslem/Arab demonstrations.
It disgusts me that so many people think that we should be "evenhanded" between the sides. The choice is stark and simple: either you are with the terrorists, the murderers, the war-lovers, the intolerant religious bigots... or you are against them. I proudly choose to be in the latter camp, and cannot wait for the day when the official policy of this country is the same.
Truth be known, if members of the House and Senate had to make a choice between support of Israel and support of Palestine, it would be the GOP who would back Israel.
The black caucus is usually virulently opposed to Israel.
Maybe this episode will shake U.S. Jewry from their slumber and reveal to them who's really on the side of Israel.
After all, it's hardly the case that they're new to the idea of political patronage, eh? You want Israel? We want your support come election time.
I was referring to the rallies in support of Israel, and specifically contrasted them with those by supporters of the Pallies. Read my post a bit more carefully.
I do agree that any rally in support of the terrorists will be covered - the media is biased toward virtually any immoral cause.
But there have been lots of pro-Palis, mostly students it appears, in the Loop, bullhorns and all -- getting the press attention they're looking for.
