Well the other bit is that the borders thing is what caused Arafat to walk.

In a way it's common sense. They wanted and still want a West Bank that is 100% theirs to do with what they will. Including arming themselves as well as possible for further war against Israel. All 3rd world nations arm themselves even if their people go hungry. Why would Arafat and company be any different? Arafat calls himself general Arafat and used to wear military outfits. Damn straight he would love to have his Pallies armed to the hilt!

Ya well to make a deal, both sides have to think they will prosper in the future, or at least not go downhill, strictures by officious intermedlars to the contrary notwithstanding. But then you already knew that. :)

That article is a pile of nonsense that basically uses as a starting point all of the Palestinians positions. Completely ludicrous. For instance, the Palestinians did not "give up" 78% of "their" land to begin Oslo. This is revealed by the articles selective use of UN resolutions, never acknowledging that UN Resolution 181 was the original Partition and conferred the right to a jewish state on Israel.

LOL!!! Yeah, that's the ticket!! BTW, at this point, I think I would tell them that any and all agreements made in near future will be null and void if one, just one, suicide bomber or terrorism of any kind asserts its ugly head in Israel. At which time, all bets are off. This time you will really pay.

Also proof of being either a.a resident of the area prior to 1967 or direct descendant thereof i.e son or daughter or born there....their records should be pretty good their family trees as I've just seen on another thread don't have too many branches.
To: whadizit
You are correct. Israel should have offered the two seas.

In order not to reward terrorism, any agreement should drastically reduce what has been offered in the past. They should just start over, and, like another poster said, give them a little bit, and if terrorism happens again, take it back. If terrorism stops for a certain time, give them a little more, etc. But START WITH A LITTLE BIT! Forget that Clinton crap. Israel is too little already. I don't really see that they should give any away, really. They should be taking.

Personally in a speech to the Knesset I would withdraw from the peace process and tell the UN that Israel is only too happy to negotiate with an alternate Palestinian government but this one is finished, find someone else to legitimise, here is what we offer, but we wan't a realistic start...the onus after 10 failed ceasefires is on the Palistinians to find new leaders with an ounce of integrity, moral fibre, concern for their people, administrative capability, intelligence and realism,if any real deal emerges at this stage you have rewarded terrorism. No if I were an Israeli id say its time for them to go back to the drawing board.

Yes! I have a feeling Gen. Sharon is not in a "Barak kind of mood". Hope not, anyway.

I think a good idea is to email the Israeli government and let them know that many of us in The USA support them and encourage them to act more strongly. I did that last week.

The Palestinians seem to be reaching the point of mass psychosis For the last week, the seminar callers to talk radio have dutifully parroted the "talking point de jour," but are growing more hystrionic with each passing day. I judge that to mean Israel is doing the right thing....

Muchas gracias.
The notion that an offer comprising 95% of Arafat's demands was met, not with "Let me think about it", but with craven spilling of Jewish childrens' blood, continues to digust me.

How do you dig up such older threads? What kind of search do you do? Thanks.
