I happen to be of the humble opinion that Bush actually DOES support Israel more than his words

Do you think his strategy is to make one final plea to Arafat by asking Israel to back off?

Netanyahu would make a great AMERICAN president.

I couldn't agree with you more, Weimdog. I believe that Bibi Netanyahu is one of the most intelligent, common sense persons on the face of the earth. Every time he appears on t.v., I am captivated by him. At the very least, I believe Bush should create a special position for him on his cabinet.

I ask you to stand by Israel’s side in its fight against Arafat’s tyranny of terror, and thereby help defeat an evil that threatens all of mankind.

Netanyahu is right on the money. It is my firm belief that the Bush administration, including Powell, are in complete agreement. We will stand by Israel.

That our media completely ignored this speach is a story in itself, and goes a long ways towards explaining our current dilemma in the middle east. Somehow, President Bush must keep the country behind the war on terrorism while we get ready for round two. Our media have a known liberal bias, which makes this doubly difficult.

We are clearly not yet ready to take on Saddam, and so we must buy time even in the face of extreme provocation. We have succeeded so far, but the outcome is very much in doubt. If Arafat, Saddam, OBL's ghost, and their many insane friends can provoke a regional war before we are ready, they are much more likely to win.

They know this, and they are trying desperately to provoke a general war. The resulting outrages are almost beyond belief.

We have learned many things. One is that Europe (especially France) is much more cowardly and anti-semitic than many of us realized. Another is that most Muslims are unwilling to condemn their terrorist cousins. Those Muslim nations that are willing to stand on the side of civilization, such as Turkey, are few and far between.

There can never be a political solution for terror. The grievance of terrorists can never be redressed through diplomacy. That will only encourage more terror.

Amen and amen.

This man is the bright shining light of truth in this dark and murky cesspool of death.

Here is a link to his speech on 9/25 (two eeks after 9-11) to the US COngress that he refers to early in this speech:

Netanyahu Speech to Congress - 9/25/01

Regards.

It truly was an historic speech. So much substance, not cliché like Bush unfortunately falls in to. I hate that "yin and yang" thing he gets going, "We will soar to the heights, not sink to the lows, we will have hope, not despair" on and on.

This speech was accurate, honest, powerful, moving, truthful. When I think of the caliber of speech we get from too many of our politicians this man makes them look like selfish, egotistic, ignorant two year olds who, unfortunately again, can talk.

It might be that they are more unable than unwilling, or a mixture of both.

Thanks -- Can't believe I had missed this ...

I think the Palistinian people will make good neighbors, once the murderous criminal-terrorist scum are eradicated from their midst.

Worse, since Palestinian terrorists both deliberately target civilians and hide behind them, Israel is cast as the guilty party because more Palestinians have been killed in Arafat’s terrorist war than Israelis.

He's right on target here. I've posted this picture a lot, because it's a great summary of the situation

- There can never be a political solution for terror. The grievance of terrorists can never be redressed through diplomacy. That will only encourage more terror.

- If Israeli restraint were to continue, the thousands that are now clamoring for war in Arab capitals will turn into millions, and an avoidable war will become inevitable.

- For if we do not immediately shut down the terror factories where Arafat is producing human bombs, it is only a matter of time before suicide bombers will terrorize your cities.

- That in exercising our basic right to defend ourselves Israel is condemned by Arab dictatorships is predictable.
That today a Europe which sixty years ago refused to lift a finger to save millions of Jews has turned its collective back on the Jewish State is downright shameful.
But my friends, I must admit. I expected no better from them.
Yet the America I know has always been different.

I torn between feeling proud ... and ashamed.

Let's see, if I've got your thinking figured out, you must have been outraged to see him on FOX, but only because you love the Jews so much?

This speech should go down in history as one of the best. Just a guess, but I think that Bush may well have listend to it, many, many times. I think that Colin Powell is finished, politically.

Powell stopped the war on Iraq, before we could take Sadaam out.

Bush is not rash, and moves like a master at chess. Time will tell.

Is Powell genuinely attempting to clinch the Neville Chamberlain "Peace At Any Price" Award? Or have our leaders merely replaced 'gunboat diplomacy' with higher tech 'Boeing 747 Diplomacy'? Or is it even worse - the dreaded 'oil rig diplomacy'?

>>Will America apply its principles consistently and win this war, or will it selectively abandon those principles and thereby ultimately lose the war? >>

Bush 41 failed to finish the job. Let us hope Bush 43 finishes it with closure for the world to see... we need credibility again in the eyes of those watching us.
