Case tests liability of gun owners in deaths

Allen County Sheriff's Deputy Eryk Heck was investigating a robbery when he was shot to death outside a Fort Wayne house. Timothy Stoffer, already a convicted felon, wasn't even supposed to have a gun. But he found one anyway, in an armchair in his parents' house.

Its a delicate and controversial matter only to those who would deny the basic Constitutional RKBA.

That's true. There's absolutely no other way to commit a murder.

The felon lost his rights to possess a weapon. He broke the law (again) by handling and using a weapon. It was not the responsibility of the gun owner to perpetually supervise the felon. The felon knew the difference between right and wrong and chose to offend again. That is an entirely different situation from leaving a firearm unattended in the reach of children who have had no proper training.

I keep my firearms in a safe when not carrying them. I do it because my children bring friends to my home at times that I'm not present to supervise the activities. I choose not to leave myself open to criminal liability by allowing unsupervised children to have access to my firearms.

Really? I am not torn at all. Virtually everyone over the age of ten knows that murder is a crime.

If you step even so much as five feet off a curb into heavy oncoming traffic, you will more than likely be killed. The danger of this happening is ever-present and outweighs any dangers associated with firearms. Yet, we have not heard wailing regarding having six-foot high fences around every roadway. There are some things that people are expected to learn. That will never change.

If you allow the shallow arguments being made by gun-grabbers to seem legitimate in any way, then you are aiding their cause of eliminating freedom.
