Rep. Henry J. Hyde, Illinois Republican and chairman of the House International Relations Committee, said yesterday that Washington should seek immunity from the court for all of its peacekeeping troops.
No, Congressman...
You need to tell Washington that no US citizen will ever be tried by any authority "International" authority.
Do not legitimize this organization any more than we have.

Palestinian sympathizers in Europe and the Arab world called yesterday for the Israeli government to be investigated for war crimes, raising the prospect that leaders of the Jewish state could be among the first targets of the new International Criminal Court.Obviously, this would set an absolutely ridiculous standard. Using this reasoning, the International Criminal Court could prosecute many of the American military personnel who participated in World War II because they fought back against the Germans and Japanese, who initiated the fighting.

So defense of one's country is now an "illegal response".

"The Israeli army has indiscriminately shelled refugee camps, using helicopters, warplanes, tanks and heavy artillery, killing hundreds of people. Medical assistance has been denied; hospitals have been shelled," Mr. Barakeh said.As I read these words, I can't help but to think to myself "If it wasn't for those damn Palestinian suicide bombers..."

Just as I predicted. Only it's faster than I predicted. It doesn't surprise me one bit though. The Palestinians are quick to pull strings for their own advantage. And the EU is stupid enough to sign on to anything, as we have all seen. We're next!

International Criminal Court Aptly titled I must say.

The UN, the ICC and the WTO are the three chains of our captivity. The EU can't wait to be the one holding the bread and water just outside our reach. I detest these entities.

"The administration is seriously considering withdrawing the U.S. signature, though no final decision has been made, State Department deputy spokesman Philip Reeker told reporters."
. . .seriously considering?. . .
Just 'do it'. . .
That 'eleventh hour' signature of Bill Clinton, should have been withdrawn on the 'first hour' of George W. Bush. . .

We're a big fish to fry...we'll see what comes next. How could we be defeated unless our economy is first destroyed, or we are suprise-nuked? Whoever attempted a protracted conflict with us would find it a mighty labor.

U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan vowed that "those who commit war crimes, genocide or other crimes against humanity will no longer be beyond the reach of justice.", Mean while, Palestinian terrorists continue to blow themselves up killing Israelis with no comment from the U.N. or Arab leaders.

I'll agree with that. But Pistias, things could get very rocky if the UN cast us as the evil empire inidicting our President and or military leadership. With possible sanctions levied under the umbrella of the WTO, and convictions before the ICC, we could see some difficult times. What if the EU became the favored step-child of the UN, with it's currency being favored at the direction of the UN? I just think we're messing with fire here.
To: DoughtyOne
Too true...who knows, we might have to start looking after our own needs again instead of importing--but the economic ramifications of that could be chilling.

I recognize the problems for other nations imposing sanctions on us. It would hurt them too. But I do not think we should dismiss this. I think there's real danger here. Thanks for your comments.
