A letter to send to your Congressional Representative

Dear (Name of your representative or Senator),

I want to thank you for your support of Israel.  Israel our only true friend in the region, it is the right thing to do. 

When the Arab mass murderers flew the planes into NYC, it was Israel that spontaneously erupted in support for America, displaying sorrow, outrage and anger for the innocents incinerated or crushed to death.  And I will not forget the Palestinians macabre dancing in the streets.  Nor should you. Israel is in crisis, please go on supporting her, for we may be witnessing our own future in hers.  The distorted reporting by the major US media outlets is a product of ratings crazed ghouls.  As a US citizen, I do not understand why our very own networks would be anti truth.  The CNN’s and CBS’s are private corporations that pursue profit at any cost, and not facts.  However, NPR and to smaller degree PBS, both taxpayer supported organizations must be held accountable.  Here is a link to an ad from the NY Times, summarizing the appalling anti-Israel bias of NPR.  I hope that Congress, as the body who funds NPR with taxpayer money, will change this shameful state of affairs.

This hideous distortion of truth has caused innumerable lies about Israel to become “unquestionable” facts through sheer brazen repetition.  It is impossible to address even a fraction of this immense pool of lies in one letter.  Following are three major deceptions that are cornerstones of the Arab position:

1. Jews stole the land from the Arabs before the creation of Israel, and then drove the Palestinians out in 1948.  This is the basis for the “Refugee right of return”.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

a) Immigrating Jews BOUGHT their land from the resident Arabs.(http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf2.html#e)   The evidence is overwhelming.

b) In 1948, as Arab hordes were massed to DESTROY the newly born Israel, (against UN Partitioning resolution by the way) the Arabs within her borders ABANDONED their land, fully expecting to return and loot within days.  The Israelis did their best to assure that nothing would happen to the Arabs that stayed.  Not only that no harm came to those who stayed (around 160,000 Arabs), they received Israeli Citizenship with full rights and no army duty!  (http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf14.html#c)

2.  West Bank is occupied territory, and that is why Palestinians fight.

The West Bank came under Israeli control after the 1967 war of self-defense against masses of Arabs.  Israel sent a message to King Hussein that Jordan would not be attacked except in self-defense. (http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf6.html#e) Yet, Jordan still attacked. 

a) It is an accepted practice that a country annexes territory taken in a defensive action.  No one is suggesting that Poland or France return chunks of territory annexed after WWII to Germany.  And yet, the West Bank is still considered “occupied territory” when Israel has clear rights to it. b) How does one explain the Palestinian attacks on Israel PRIOR to 1967?  Using the logic of “occupied territories”, those attacks should have been directed against Jordan.  None are recorded.  Therefore, it is a lie. 

c) As far as the claims that Israel is a colonizing nation, the best proof is the history of Israeli withdrawal from territory captured in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973 and 1982. (http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf10.html#b and http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf10.html#c)

3. Palestinians want peace with Israel.

The lie goes that if it were not for Sharon’s visit to the Temple Mount, there would be no intifada.  Again, this does not explain the attacks PRIOR to Sharon’s visit.  In truth, the violence that occurred was planned months in advance, and Sharon’s visit was the excuse. This intifida was Israel “reward” for the unprecedented peace offer that was made to Arafat by Ehud Barak. (http://www.us-israel.org/jsource/myths/mf24.html#a)  In every single case that peace was within reach, Palestinian Authority has escalated the violence.  They have broken every agreement, and openly waged terrorism illustrated below:

“We are teaching the children that suicide bombs make Israeli people frightened and we are allowed to do it....We teach them that after a person becomes a suicide bomber he reaches the highest level of paradise.”

The UN has become a factory of anti-Israeli resolutions.  Not surprising, given that it is controlled by the Muslims.  Yet the obvious fact that for 54 years, Arabs have rejected the UN resolution creating Israel is never mentioned.  But Israel is expected to heed every word of UN now?

In close, please continue to support Israel.  She not only needs it, she also deserves it.  I ask this as a citizen and as your constituent.

We rant and we rave on the FR forum, but I was hoping would could do more.

We are fortunate that for now there is a great bipartisan support for Israel in Congress. Let us not lose this opportunity, and encourage them to continue.

I also think it would be good to educate them a little bit as well, since they probably do not have the time to study the history in detail.

I tried to make it easy for people... cut and paste my note, insert the name of your Congress representative, and then email it to them. Fax it to them. Mail it to them. If there is something I said in my note you don't agree with, chop it out.

And then ask your friends to do the same thing. If cretin chain letters can clog the US Post office, surely we can do better?
