It was always about money, after it wasn't about stopping the growth of the minority population.

It is government doctorine that you should never leave parenting to the parent. Only they know what is best for the children.
What really ticks me off is the homosexual agenda being pushed in schools. I have grandkids ranging from high school to third grade and I don't want them being taught that perverted nonsense.

I heard a radio commercial the the other day while driving from PP. They talked about "sexual health" this and "sexual health" that and then they
mentioned "
sexuality", all by its lonesome. PP thinks it's their job to teach teenagers about sexual orientations like straight, gay, or bisexual as part of their overall education. That's
part of how "sexuality" is defined.
Planned Parenthood...promoting homosexual proclivities/lifestyles as an integral part of PP's
population control
programs?
"Senator Hatfield, who is generally pro-life, has been misinformed about the impact of population control programs," said Steven Mosher, Executive Director of the Population Research Institute. "He is basing his actions on a wrong-headed study issued by the Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI), the research arm of Planned Parenthood, which profits immensely from public funding of population control."

The author of this piece clearly doesn't know the difference between income and revenue. Make sure YOU know before you believe this sensationalist drivel.

Do you know the difference between parenthood and murder?
To: AppyPappy
How is this relevant to my comment? Does being anti-abortion give one a license to spread false and misleading information? Does supporting the 6th Commandment give one a license to violate the 9th?

Following the invasion of Poland before WWII, the American Eugenics Society, to distance themselves from the Nazi headquarters changed their name to PLANNED PARENTHOOD...check it out

They get cash from "patients" and the government. And then they donate to liberals and lobby with gov't money.

Here is a site that is drumming up customers! I was looking for a pro-"choice" site to post this arcticle and found this morsel. http://www.teenwire.com/index.asp

What was false?
To: GovernmentShrinker
Please clarify and expand your comments. I am unclear what parts of this you do not understand or claim to be false.

I take that to be ANTI-Catholic. I do believe Jeff is refering to Mother Angelica. Do we need that here on Free Republic?
To: TxBec
Thanks for the depressing info.
To: George from New England;jeffgordon
I wasn't sure how to take Jeff's response myself,
.... but I took what I saw on TV as Mother Angelica saying that even though her mother was not a scholar, she taught her daughter what she needed to know and didn't need 12 years to do it.

Just for starters, "In 2000 alone, Planned Parenthood made over $68 million from abortion procedures". This is written so as to give the impression that the people who run PP are walking away with millions that they "made" by performing abortions, but in fact it is a REVENUE estimate. Nowhere in STOPP's linked document do they provide one iota of evidence that PP is making any profit at all from abortions -- that would require a detailed allocation of expenses. According to STOPP, PP charges an average of $350 per abortion. To know if they "made" anything at all on these procedures, one would also need to know their average expense allocable to each abortion. Due to insurance and security costs associated with abortions that are not associated with the activities that produce the other 71% pf PP's revenue, it is quite possible that an objective allocation of expenses would result in a finding that PP actually loses money on abortions. But of course STOPP isn't interested in mentioning this, since it would detract from the sensationalist message that PP is run by greedy people who promote abortion in order to get rich. In fact, the STOPP material specifically labels a graph showing their estimate of PP's abortion REVENUE as "Planned Parenthood Abortion INCOME".
Now about those alleged "profits" STOPP is claiming PP has (and I noticed at least one place in the STOPP document where they actually used quotes around the term). The annual profits shown include appreciation resulting from it's endowment-like investment portfolio (the huge spike in 1999 is a dead giveaway -- remember the Internet-driven stock market bubble?). Also, as a non-profit PP cannot pay dividends, so any "profits" are either used for operational expenses in subsequent years, to add to its permanent investment fund (a source of stable, permanent funding, like a university's endowment, and a way to decrease reliance on government funding which might get cut off). In addition, they are probably purchasing some real estate to replace lost leases, since the activities of the anti-abortion movement are making it increasingly difficult for PP to rent facilities. STOPP's claim that PP has made $415 million in "profits" also isn't adjusted for inflation, which would account for quite a large portion of it. If an investment portfolio of $100 million earns a return of $5 million in a year when inflation was 6 or 7% (about average), that's actually going backwards financially, but by STOPP's method it's just tacked on to the cumulative tally of "huge profits".
Even though I'm not anti-abortion, I'm not a big fan of PP. It's a leftist-dominated organization which directly and indirectly promotes the creeping socialism that is a grave threat to freedom. But I'm even less of a fan of the practice of lying and exaggerating to achieve political objectives, regardless of what cause it's being done in the name of. If the case for a certain point of view can't be made without lies, then there's no case, and if it can be made without lies, then its proponents should do so. Whether it's enviromentalists planting fake fur and publishing phony "research", or anti-gun activists including 24 year olds in their statistics of "children" killed by guns, or anti-abortion activists misrepresenting financial information, or pro-abortion activists claiming that anti-abortion activists are all misogynist religious wackos who want to keep women barefoot and pregnant and submissive -- it's all lying.
