CNN State Department correspondent Andrea Koppel - Ted Koppel's daughter - is denying an American businessman's accusation that she made blatant anti-Israel statements at a conference in Tel Aviv.

In an e-mail circulated yesterday, David J. Blumberg, head of New York-based Blumberg Capital Management, accused Koppel of telling him and others at a venture-capital conference that Israeli soldiers had committed "slaughter" against Palestinian civilians and that the current violence would lead to the death of the state of Israel, reports PAGE SIX's Ian Spiegelman.

Terrorism to me is targeting and murdering innocent civilians in order to effect a political change. While not a mideast expert, I do not think Israel has a history of using terrorism. Israel has a very effective intelligence agency and a strong military that are used to target specific individuals and enemy assets. Under international law, Israel has the fundamental right to protect itself just as America has the right to root out the Taliban and al-Qaeda in central Asia.
