Q: How does a husband in Alabama take his wife on a cruise?
A: He throws her in the pickup and does a few donuts around the local Dairy Queen.
I agree wholeheartedly with your implied definition of criticism.
You know you're from Alabama when you think the last words to the Star Spangled Banner are "Gentlemen, start your engines."
The people at Nightline have been bombarded with e-mails accusing them of being anti-Semetic, another fair measure of the madness involved in the current situation.
(However, that is, in fact, how Alabamaians take their wives on that type of cruise.)
It's not?
I find it more than irritating. I just find the philosophy of pendulums not appropriate for human behavior.
LOL. Very good. Thank you for getting my point. Now do some extensive research. Also, chck back in the FR archives and read up on the understandably reactionary threads from the months immediately following 9-11. Including the ones which pertain to the Palestinians. See who is being accused of being a Muslim apologist.
Those threads may give you some insight into why I now react the way I do to "why is it wrong to bash [any group, country or person here]?", questions.
It also makes Ted very bitter towards Judaism- which would explain much.
There seems to be no reason for the story about his mother except if her reaction was memorable and negative.
You all know that Judaism doesn't look kindly on marriage outside the faith. If Ted felt that Judaism rejected him, he would lash back at Judaism and what Jews hold sacred. An attitude that would be transmitted to his daughter.
I have written here many times, going back a long time, that I believe Nightline is the most singularly anti-Israel news show considering its limited broadcast.
I have read many of those threads on FR, but, because a reaction is understandable doesn't make it appropriate. The moment we make any area immune to criticism is the moment those who don't have our interests at heart use it to hatch dragon eggs.
Why is it bad to bash ANYONE?
Because bashing is bad. Judging only from your screen name, I will assume you're male.
So, if I called you castrated, brainwashed twit, would you consider my bashing of you to be "wrong" (not to mention sensless)?
I would consider it wrong, hateful, senseless bashing. Heck, you could be a great guy, whom it is my misfortune to misunderstand. Nevertheless, it would still be wrong for me to make baseless accusations against you, would it not?
If you are sincere in your beliefe that no one is above critism ( and I agree with that 1000 % ) then you know better than to start off by asking such a sweeping question.
If honest critism is truely your aim, and so far, you've said nothing on this thread which confirms that this is your belief, then USE WELL REASONED, HONEST CRITISM. With EXAMPLES and SOURCES, rather than dumb questions or of COURSE your true (?) intent will be...errr....misunderstood.
The only baseless accusations are those involving slander, that is, to harm one's standing in a community to accrue personal beneifts for it to the accuser; or, those involving ad hominem attacks to deflect honest inquiry. Those without those intentions believe their points deserve criticism, therefore are not baseless to them.
If you honestly believe I am the things you list which you call hateful, senseless bashing, have at it. It is up to me to defend myself. Likewise, it is up to those who believe Israel is immune from criticism to defend that presumption.
So far, I've seen no such defense. The reason is that there is no defense of it. My intention is to make that crystal clear to any who might be foggy on the notion. There are partisans who work hard to make criticism of Israel assumed to be wrong.
I can understand that the underlying fear is that, once criticism of Israel is found proper, following will be criticism of Jews, then shortly thereafter come the ovens. I don't know how to remedy the situation at its root, but I do know the problem is not mine because I have no desire to bake a Jew, and I will be willing to participate in bring to justice thsoe that do.
I do know that exempting the behavior of Israel or Jews from criticism will inevidably create a wrong just as bad. Those immune to criticism soon grow arrogant and presumptous, and that applies to nation as well as individuals (nations are made up of individuals and are run by individuals). Humility leads to love; arrogance to hate.
And it all starts with the clabbered milk from a sacred cow.
My opinion and intention. Accept it or no.
Nail bombing is judged by the symmetry of the pattern it leaves, and the outside diameter dispersion of the shrapnel...
factors for journalistic bashing: stupidity, ugliness of the reporter, lying ability, and competitive equivocation.
He was recruited because his "leftist views" would get him inside Arafat's compound. He has succeeded.
One of these days he may be killed by the Palestinians, then the whole story will be told.
Where's your proof? If you have proof, post it or post a link to the source. If you don't have proof, then you're either a liar, BSer or a propagandist (or all three).
