Making a case for the Weapons of righteousness'
Recently, a columnist said the National Rifle Association is the "twin sibling of the National Socialist Worker's Party".
As an NRA member, I wonder what he means. My wife (also an NRA member) is Jewish and teaches a religion class to children in her Synagogue. Somehow this doesn't sound like a member of the "twin sibling of the National Socialist Worker's Party"
The occasion for the insult is the debate over "assault rifles" Of course, the guns in question are not "assault rifles," they are semi- automatics that look like assault rifles. The media know this, but they use the Josh Steiner standard of accuracy Since they won't call them by their correct name, let's make up one for them. Let's call them "weapons of righteousness." Why? It is self-evident that the law of nature requires that every human being defend human life and resist evil. Surely such a duty is righteous. Firearms are ideally suited to defending life and resisting evil. We know this because each and every army and police force in the world issues firearms to their members and they each claim it is for precisely these two purposes.
We need weapons of righteousness because there is evil on the Earth. For example, there is hatred. Hatred is a form of evil. It clouds the reason and it can never be appeased. When the original (not the "twin sibling") National Socialist Worker's Party undertook its campaign of hatred against Jews, it began by passing a few laws, including gun control laws, in order to "reduce crime." Then their criminal gangs broke the windows and looted the stores of Jewish merchants while desecrating their synagogues. Later, they forced Jews to live in special areas but nothing could appease their burning hatred. This was because it came from within themselves, not from anything which the Jews had done. So they killed the Jews.
Hatred still stalks the Earth, not only in Bosnia and Rwanda, hut right here Jf you dont believe me, consider this. First, compare a caricature of a Jew in the Nazi paper Volkischer Beobachter with a caricature by Herblock in The Washington Post of an NRA member. Or listen to taxpayer funded National Public Radio, where Bebe Moore Campbell calls the NRA racist and says our name really stands for "Negro Removal Association." Or listen to Sen. Ted Kennedy when he says we are "the pusher's best friend." The examples are endless.
This is hatred of a class of people, and it has nothing to do with guns. If every gun in America disappeared overnight, certain elements of the American left would still hate NRA members with the same virulence. This hatred comes from something within these people. It does not arise from anything we have done. As with all other instances of unreasoning hatred, it is a hatred that cannot be appeased.
Hatred of NRA members is not related to violent crime. I live in Washington County, Md., with a high concentration of gun owners and NRA members but with a rate of violent crime lower than most of the countries of Europe (1.2 homicides per 100,000 in 1992). NRA membersare no more the cause of the plague of violence An parts of America than were the Jews of Germany the cause of the problems of the Weimar Republic. In fact, violent crime is the toxic byproduct of three generations of social engineering, which has turned out to be a covert form of genocide. Social programs have destroyed the family life of the underclass, leaving young boys without any meaningful male guidance. The education system has stolen from them the common culture of the American people, and inculcated blind rage. The results are evident for all to behold.
Since the social engineers employ coercion that is, the veiled threat of violence to perform their tinkering, it is no wonder they have wrought such destruction. Violence begets violence. Children in public housing projects owe the fear in their homes, the used needles in their hallways, the human waste in their stairwells, and the death in their streets to the same people who now propose to take away our guns.
Gun control is wrong. In a world filled with evil, one of the human lives I must defend is that of my 8-year-old daughter (also an NRA member). She is a sweet and loving little girl. She keeps a diary. There was another Jewish girl who kept a diary In the case of the other little girl, when the forces of evil came for her, her father, like millions of other such fathers, did not have a weapon of righteousness and could not resist. Since he could not defend her life, she, and millions Like her, died. All that remained to her father was to publish her diary. When I review history, I find no examples of a people who could properly trust to the goodness of the state for their safety In the case of the Jews, I find there have been many who perished because they thought they were "safe." I intend to harm no one; neither do I intend to infringe upon the rights of anyone. But I will provide myself for the safety of my children. It is righteous to resist evil and defend human life. Besides, I have no plans to publish a diary

Interesting. As time goes by, the left more and more abandons any semblance of truth in it's pursuit to destroy anything and everything related to the fundamental principles and traditions upon which our nation was founded. Their shameless audacity truly knows no bounds.

When liberals compare someone they don't like to a Nazi, it just shows their ignorance of history. After all, it's the National SOCIALIST Workers Party. Let's just look at some of the things Nazis and Democrats have in common:
Both believe in a big, all-pervasive government.
jBoth distrust the free market and believe in state control of the economy is the only way to ensure the wellbeing of the workers. (Nazis passed laws similar to OSHA and Family Leave Act decades before US did)
Both believe in state delivered healthcare and retirement.
Both worship the environment and want to push the country back to some mythical time where people were in harmony with the earth.
Both believe in world government, with their country calling the shots, of course!
Both believe in granting special rights and privileges to certain groups based on race. (Aryans/Minorities).
Both hate certain groups because of the alleged crimes they've committed in the past(Jews/Whites).
Both believe in thought control and thought crimes, and want a large, powerful police force to enforce it.
Both believe that "children are our future" and want to take away parental control in favor of state brainwashing.
I could go on, but I think you get the picture.
Why, because we have the guns and they don't.

My thoughts exactly. Since we began our family back in 1963 we have kept at least one firearm for defense. We rely upon the State for protection, but increasingly it cannot do so reliably. We are law abiding. But we see a growing need to protect ourselves from evil criminals, predators, and their ilk. Should any member of our family ever be harmed, we will allow the State one opportunity to "commit" justice. Should it fail, justice will still be done.
I would like to see the other groups explain how they are stopping gun control rather than one more article about how they think the NRA isn't doing what they want.
Unfortunately, the NRA was (and is) intent on a failed policy of ingratiating itself with the Washington Establishment.
I saw your comment just after I posted my own; what I'd like to see is the NRA explaining the same thing!
Much of the blame for crime that we encounter today may be laid at the feet of those who favor gun controls (which is actually gun confiscation). How many women have been raped due to their reluctance to secure a weapon- a process that has been made cumbersome and politically incorrect by those who would 'protect' us?
How many homes have been broken into and the occupants terrorized by thugs that could have been stopped dead in their tracks had the owner not been deterred by the hurdles and red tape put in place by those who only want to 'protect' us?
Protect us, my ass. What we need is to remove these phony barriers and allow individuals to arm themselves whenever and wherever they want. "Mr. Bush/Ashcroft, tear down these walls".
No I'm not. I know the realities on the ground. I prepare myself and the family accordingly.

These groups are fighting for what we want. They may not do it exactly as we want but they are doing something.
The day I hear that one of these groups has become anti-gun I will resign from it.
Until then, my measely little contribution along with your contribution along with anothers...etc...puts money into the pro-gun lobby.
The NRA works on introducing people to the sport or to defense. They instuct people who are all ready are involved. They fight on the local, state and Federal level.
The Second Amendent Foundation worked in Ohio to defeat the CCW ban.
The Second Amendment Sisters have defeated the MMM on all fronts.
The Jews for Preservation Of Firearms Ownership fights in a community that votes overwhelmingly dem.
We need all the groups.
Sunday bump for a great idea...don't forget your state associations.
I'm preaching to the choir on the bang_list so maybe you can point a procrastinating 2A supporter here for the easy links...maybe sponsor your friends to a 1 year membership. For the cost of a good dinner or a couple boxes of ammo for your favorite bullet hose you can put much needed money into the Pro 2A lobby...feel free to add links to more associations.
