I have a house on Galveston Bay (not on Galveston Island) & I have seen it & I don't know why the city of Galveston allows it to happen. Most of the business close up for 2 days, many of the residence leave for 2 days. Its a nightmare. If anyone complains about it they are called racist. It began as a frat. party, then was sponsored by a radio station. I am not sure but I think it took on a life of its own & it just happens. The city closed many streets & made others one way to control the traffic because the city became grid locked. I don't know what they did this year. I have heard some stories of sex acts in public that would shock & amaze you.

There are several sites like this that request sex photos to add to their albums

One way to profit from the weekend is to make videos of the sex acts and sell them on the internet. Someone like me who makes maps of the Historic Strand shops has to get all sorts of permits, yet there is NO business in the Historic areas.

This used to happen to us here in Atlanta - and the question of "why do they allow it?" can only be answered by the question of "how do you stop it?" - 250,000 kids come cruising into town - total gridlock on the streets - what do you expect the cops to do about that? Here, after several years of experience, the police basically shut down the streets - blocked intersections, off ramps on the interstate, closed large sections of downtown - so that "crusing" could not occur. Of course, it was a major hassle for the residents, as well. But, eventually, it became less and less "fun" for the participants, and moved on.
