As for being so cynical( and I know I was cynical going back a while) my best explanation is that I had a bad time between elementary and the beginning of high school( 5th, 6th, and 7th grade were just horrible) and now see the world as it is instead of any idealized way I would wish it to be I'm not unhappy now but I don't have a rosy worldview either.

Oh yes I know what your talking about they will defend the church beyond all reason right or wrong. WPI my father went to MIT. We have better undergrad training then MIT anyway at least the prevailing school propaganda goes. I'm not depressed that ended a long time ago just cynical.

Engineering school its pretty apolitical no demonstrations really ever. I think there are more conservatives then libs engineers tend to be conservative but I haven't done a count myself.
