It's good to see this is getting some time on the news wires. It's been unspoken for so long. . .

Clark also said the United States is "probably the most immoral country certainly in the Western Hemisphere" and blamed American society for being "very protective" of homosexuality.
I'm not defending the good ol' U.S. of A., but this is a bit over the top. Unfortunately, as immoral as we are, we are still one of the most (if not the most) moral countries in the western hemisphere. If you don't believe me, then go down to some of the S.A. countries during Mardi-Gras...

There is another thread dealing with this same subject... different article and a little more detail on what Msgr, Clark said. (I'm not the thread police!...I'm glad you posted this.)
At least this article stuck to the facts and the author did not try to embellish the story with 'alternate viewpoints' from the homosexual lobby!
I maintain that only the Catholic Church has the ability to stem the tide of the homosexual indoctrination being forced upon the American public (and most importantly... children). Thank you for posting this. I agree that it's about time this truth gets some 'air-time!'

The whole thing is a misunderstanding. Someone told them they should be rectors in the church and they thought it meant something else.
To: Frumious Bandersnatch
We could get into quite a debate about that one, but suffice it to say that the ol US of A is on seriously shakey moral ground and has NO room to call any kettle black.

I think the issue is not just conduct but values. I think Clark means that our value-system is what makes us immoral. Case in point
here.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?
On the other hand, it would have been nice if Msgr Egan could have presented some factual basis for his assertion that the USA is the least moral country in the Western Hemisphere. Name one member state of the European Union that has a higher rate of church attendence? Or even the results of a simple public opinion poll: "Do you believe in G-d?". USA wins hands down. Maybe we should simply note the age of consent laws in the United States are probably stricter than most European and Latin American nations. And are probably enforced more. Is too facile to suggest that the more rigorous enforcement of laws that protect children in the USA against the look-the-other-way tolerance of (dare I say it) less-moral nations skews the data?

What a novel idea, that it is homosexuals who are molesting these young boys. Yet the press has run away from this story - the widespread infiltration of active homosexuals into the priesthood - and focused on largely unrelated issues such as priestly celibacy and the ordination of women. There is an excellent article on this in the current issue of "National Revue."

Monsignor: "The tendency to homosexuality is a disorder, not a sin,..." This would be accepted as true by some Wesleyans..the "bent toward sin" is not sin..only the actually completion..I happen to agree with you (and the word of God of course:>))..

I wish he would have had the guts to name a more moral country.

"I maintain that only the Catholic Church has the ability to stem the tide of the homosexual indoctrination..."
I wish that it were so, but I believe that the Roman Catholic Church has been seriously compromised, and we are just now seeing the extant of the curruption.
The homosexuals have wormed thier way into some very powerfull positions in the Church, and certainly protect "thier own".
I read Egans statemnt that they just didn't realize how harmfull the homosexual molesters were, how come they were the last to know something the rest of us knew in the early 70's?
If a Priest was caught embezzeling money from the parish, do you think they would just be transfered to another parish?
"They" are tearing the churches down from inside,
and we know that Satan prowls the earth like a lion seeking to devour who he may.
I'm not sure that I want to continue bringing my family to a Catholic church anymore, I am looking, and praying...
