Well, it just was reported. Maybe it will be passed around - if the monks are interviewed. Since they are Armenian, not locals. They have little reason to slant there stories.
It would be amazing to believe that nothing like this would have happened. The way I read through the stories, the invasion of the Church was a pre-planned option for propaganda purposes - maybe mistaken in believing it would be a positive spin. There's hard-core terrs in there, regular gunmen, and people who just got caught up in all of it.

Given the way CNN/BBC etc have been spinning, it was probably a good bet, from a propaganda point of view.

Are you kidding? They will slant it. I know many Armenians, and many of them have a deep distrust of Muslims, esp Turks, and Armenians in the Armenian Diaspora (Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, USA) that I know think Islam is a crock and hate Islamics.
This will be spun as Armenians siding with Israel against the Muslims.
