Unfortunately, it appears that your editorial staff has difficulty understanding the distinction between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism ("Hatefest on the Mall," Editorials, April 22).
Perhaps the most poignant example of this distinction was made in a speech at the main stage of the "hatefest" at the Ellipse on Saturday, by a group of Hasidic rabbis from New York City, who presented what struck me as the most impressive and underreported statement of the weekend.

In the midst of a crowd of thousands of - as you would have it - "hateful" supporters of Palestine and haters of Jews, these Jewish men had the bravery and conscience to stand (unaccosted) and speak outSo where were their wives? At home, having babies. Not exactly the most enlightened guys, but they're temporarily useful to the left.

We also got wind of an attempt to incite a riot and completely overrun our rally at 2:00 pm on Saturday
If I ever go to an FR rally I'll bring my baseball bat.

Zionism seems to demand the existence of a state dominated by the Jewish people... Which clearly is a bad thing, in contrast to a demand for a Palestinian state, which for some reason, is a noble goal.

Hannity had me on hold for 50 minutes, then let me speak on trash the lines to let people know of the planned assault on the Rally for America. He asked why the media didnt report it.

I invite comment especially from those that were there Saturday. My Sunday paper here in east Tennessee reported that the protestors who stunk up Washington with their lack of hygiene and anti-semitism last weekend were a "peaceful" lot. The word "peaceful" appeared more than half a dozen times in the text of the article. My letter to the editor refuting this blatant "bravo sierra" is on its way...I would suggest to anyone who attended the rally and had similar nonsense appearing in their local paper take a moment to set them straight with a letter to the editor. We will NOT let them get away with this crap any longer!

Nothing personal, there Iowa Granny, i was just using Dubuque as an example of the heartland. I was being sarcastic since he took such care not to describe them in any way. Perhaps they were swarthy looking:)

Zionism seems to demand the existence of a state dominated by the Jewish people and the use of whatever force is necessary to secure that goal (including the slaughter of innocent civilians). Funny, doesn't that description sound more like the goal of the PLO for a Palestinian state? Complete with ethnic cleansing to remove the Jewish settlements? And the use of homicide bombers to slaughter innocent civilians? It seems that the writer's concerns are misplaced.

Get a load of the left-turned swastika - that, is an old Christian symbol, and one used by American Indians...the nazi swastika turns to the right, in other words, he's backwards (in more ways than one)....
Not that I expect the unwashed to be educated or anything.....just trying to help in my own little way.....

Good job on the rebuttal, Dave. I hope that the paper prints it.
To: sauropod; all
They were anti-Zionist, pointing out the parallels between the political ideology of Zionism and the similarly nationalist agenda that was held by Germany's Nazional Sozialismus party under Hitler.
This is the most telling sentence in the so-called "anti-Zionist" letter to the editor. Unless he is trying to impress the readers by his knowledge of the German language, why did he not give us the title of Hitler's party in English, hmmm?
He could not bring himself to admit that the word "Sozialismus," in German, is SOCIALISM, but more loosely SOCIALIST.
We just can't have Hitler and socialism equated, can we? Good post, 'Pod.

Nothing personal, there Iowa GrannyLOL, I didn't take it personally. Just pointing out that the folks I disagree with most of the time are not demented enough to do such a thing.
