Don't you understand? The "pedophilia" stuff is what the media would like you to believe. The truth is that the bad priests are not pedophiles, they're homosexual predators chicken-hawking after teenage boys. This statement nails it ... in a rather circumspect manner, of course.

Couldn't agree more with you. The media would also like us to believe that all these cases are just "cut and dried", with all the allegations proved up, etc. The reality is that there are a range of fact situations, many of which amount to "he said vs. he or she said" in which the truth may never ben known. Some (e.g., those involving paedophilia) may be violations of the law. Others (e.g., situations involving older teenagers) may not be violations of the law although they represent serious compromising of priestly vows and standards.
The point is that the situation being addressed is complex overall and the specific policies that will be developed from the Pope's statements need to be thought out very carefully. The press would have us believe otherwise; but, the press is by and large comprised of anti-catholic idiots.
Remember, it was the press that led the feeding frenzy about child abuse in the 80's --- a frenzy which, in combination with overly ambitious prosecutors such as Janet Reno, resulted in the unjust conviction of numberous individuals (there will be a special on one of Janet's more egregreous travesties of justice this evening).

Yep. And that they only are doing a 'one strike and you are out' for "Notorious" individuals incriminates the hierarchy...it means the dominos were going up the ranks, not just falling down. They lost moral ground on this "bigtime."
