[history]
According to some Swedish scientists, we can now add to the pantheon of homespun wisdom, alongside such notables as "Look both ways before crossing the street" and "Don't go out in the cold with wet hair," a new admonition -- "Bread kills."

Bread is the oldest of foods. The ancient Egyptians ate bread and drank beer, made from bread, as dietary staples.
I am just so thoroughy sick and tired of being told that this, or that causes cancer / death ! The heck with them and their crazy studies. Everyone dies, and I'd rather do so , after eating red meat, bacon and bread, than a lifetime of eating quasi foodstuffs that look and taste like cardboard.

As far as the media goes, everything is dangerous except homosexual sex.
To: Buffalo Bob
Add to that list........illicit drugs (maybe alcohol) and abortions.

You
are correct Sir!

You know, living has been proven to increase your chance of getting cancer.

ARG!
Get this through your damn pointy heads, you stupid Swedish "scientist"...news flash: BEING ALIVE is a risk factor for cancer. Maybe it's time to eliminate the act of living as part of a new anti-cancer campaign?

I think it's sleep. You know, everyone who's ever had cancer slept. Maybe I'll get a guvment grant to look into that....
To: billybudd
Age greatly multiplies the probability of getting cancer also.
If you live long enough you will surely get it.

If bread is the cause of cancer, why is there cancer in Africa, where they eat porridge, and in Asia, where they eat rice?
And, Buffalo Bob, heterosexual sex causes cancer also: 20 000 cases of cervical cancer yearly. If it wasn't for pap smears and treating pre cancerous lesions, this would be up there with lung cancer for deaths. This is especially true if the girls have sex in their early teens. We used to see dysplasia in married women in their thirties, now we see pre cancerous dysplasia in 15 year olds...
Homosexual sex only causes HIV, with it's associated cancers, a much less common problem.

"Homosexual sex only causes HIV, with it's associated cancers, a much less common problem."
So,from the nanny state perspective then, homosexual sex is more dangerous than heterosexual sex?Pardon me then if I choose to "live dangerously".

I think the stress of scientists telling us what causes cancer is the cause of cancer.
To: The Raven
After 10,000 years we discover that bread causes cancer?
Guess I'll eat a medium rare bacon cheeseburger (grilled on a charcoal grill) while I smoke a cigarette.

According to these folks, you can't eat the food, you can't drink the water, you can't breathe the air. By this time, you'd think there'd be a whole lot fewer food/water/air Nazis.

I believe I got the homo amd hetero backwards in my response to you. And,the more I think about this-how does the danger thing work out when you consider it versus number of folks actually practicing the given activity?Because, although recent events have made me wonder about this,I believe homosexuals are a tiny minority.Outside of the end of humanity do to a lack of procreation,if everybody had "gay sex",how would things work out?

I should clarify things.
Promiscuity causes cancer. Gay men are more promiscuous than hetero men, so get more cancer.
Cervical cancer in virgins is non existant. Cervical cancer percentage in monogamous women is low. Cervical cancer in 17 year olds who are promiscuous is high. Cervical cancer in monogamous gay women is low.

Bread is fine.
Just, from now on, you'll have to boil it instead of bake it. (No big deal.)

Avoid Swedish bread at all costs.
As a reputable scientist myself, I can assure you that Norvegian bread not only has been found in multiple studies sponsored by the Sons of Norway, St. Olaf, MN, NOT to cause Cancer, but CURES it with only one or two "doses."
But like all good medical news, there is a downside. The Norvegian bread must be taken with lutefisk.
