"Simon has unofficially changed his stance on abortion"
Your proof please!! Because I have read every speech he gave, and there is no way he has changed his stance on abortion.

He said that it's not an issue because abortion is legal by statute in California-- actually I think Reagan was governor at the time.

He has adopted a strategy of "changing the subject" when it comes to abortion, and insisting that it is a "settled issue" that he, as governor, will have no power over. That means that he supports the status quo, and the status quo is pro-abortion. Of course, he claims to be pro-life so that the mind-numbed single issue pro-lifers will still vote for him, but he doesn't intend to lift a finger to stop one abortion, by his own veiled admission. And there are plenty of things a governor could do to discourage abortion and create cultural change. But Simon is apparently not interested.
