I should read these articles more closely before spouting off. Laser printers; yes, I've seen HPs consume several reams of paper in one sitting without complaint. So, one could do worse, I suppose. Anything but Lexmark . . .
OldFriend, I'll trade you three color cartridges for your secret to satisfaction. HP inkjets and I just don't seem to get along . . .
I did a web search, and we could have guessed (HP should have recalled any such printers): Hewlett Packard 5L Printer Review
I'd stay away from any printer like the 5L, in which you load the paper by dropping a stack of paper vertically into the top of the printer.
As for cleaning the rollers--that's a pain in the butt. You have to reach back all they way into the machine while being careful not to touch the wrong innards with the damp pad or with your fingers. A very awkward, annoying, and nerve-wracking task, which for me never helped much anyway--even after HP fixed the thing for me.
I don't use my old 4L much because it's in my office-office, and I print most of my correspondence from my miserable 5L in my home office--but I prefer my HP 4L to my miserable HP 5L.
Also, when I first got the miserable HP 5L, I used it with the 4L drivers because it printed faster that way.
