Is there anything liberals won't lie about? Craige McMillan reveals key motivation

Conservatives always make the same mistake. We expect liberals to tell us the truth. Just once. About something. Anything. But they never do.

Think I'm being too harsh? Let's start with sex. Just ask former President Clinton, who "did not have sex with that woman," fingerpoint, fingerpoint. The liberal media's defense? "Everybody lies about sex." Well, everybody they know – obviously – beginning with themselves.

How about campaign and political promises? "Nobody expects a candidate to keep his campaign promises," the liberal media intone to us, looking down their very long noses. And after the candidate is elected, as in the Northwest timber agreement the previous administration was widely praised for? "But the trees of the North Winberry Timber Sale are also a poster child for why the Clinton administration's Northwest Forest Plan never delivered the wood loggers had counted on" (The Oregonian, A1, 4/29/02). Loggers get forced onto welfare; the plan's architect becomes a multi-millionaire speechmeister.

Maybe education? Surely we can trust liberals to tell us the truth about our children? "School officials (in Woodburn, Ore.) recently announced that many of their students who don't speak English no longer will take the state tests that are used to produce individual school report cards" (The Oregonian, B9, 4/30/02). So the less-than-proficient 60 percent of the school's 4,319 students won't be measured when the state scores the school for funding. How convenient. How dishonest. How liberal.

Maybe the environment and endangered species are important enough to liberals that they will tell us the truth? Weather unseasonably hot? Global warming … the sky is falling! Weather unseasonably cold? Global warming … the sea is rising! The facts don't matter – nor do the endangered species; they never did. All that matters is the liberal agenda. Facts exist only to protect and serve the liberal onslaught.

But let's not give up on liberals. Everybody, regardless of political persuasion, wants a long and happy life. Perhaps liberals will tell us the truth about our health? Of course, that doesn't explain why they took the most deadly sexually-transmitted disease in history and exempted it from mandatory partner tracking, a public health tool used successfully to contain epidemics and to provide early medical treatment to innocent persons unaware they have been infected. It doesn't explain why liberals are bankrupting our medical system by paying for AIDS treatments – while demanding euthanasia for the rest of us when we're too old to forfeit any more taxes to support the card-house of liberal lies.

Gun control? Illegal immigration? "Peaceful" Islamic nations rolling homicide bombers off the propaganda assembly line like Barbie dolls, while their hate-filled masses bray for American and Jewish blood? Can you catalog the liberal lies from the last week alone as they roll off the spin doctors' tongues and saturate the media airwaves, drowning our nation in a sea of deceit?

So the question arises, why do liberals continue to lie about almost everything? Why does it matter?

There's no question that lying is destructive personal behavior. It ultimately causes the victim to sever his or her relationship with the liar, because it's impossible to pursue our own best interest when we are denied the facts necessary to make correct choices. Lying is a way of achieving power over others without their consent. Think of it as political malpractice. If liberals had told America the truth, we would never have bought their sorry solutions to the world's real problems, and liberals would never have gained the power to implement their destructive fantasies. That's why liberals continue to lie: It advances their agenda. Their lies demonstrate they don't care about solving problems – only retaining the power necessary to implement their agenda of totalitarian socialism or communism.

A world at peace can survive a smattering of liars and hypocrites in power. A nation at war demands hard choices be made, up to and including the deaths of soldiers and civilians. Choice only operates when every citizen is acquainted with the facts, and has clear alternatives from which he or she chooses. America's lying liberals are hell-bent on denying America any real choice.

Finally, it's worth asking: Do liberals actually live their own lives the way that they advocate for others? Or do they prefer monogamous marriage partners, stable two-parent families in which to raise children, sexually abstinent teenagers who aren't carted off to the abortionist behind parental backs, private schools outside the public educational correctness wasteland, and the good-old-boy ivy-league college network, rather than the racial quotas they've enacted for the rest of us? Do liberals have the courage of their convictions – or are they world-class hypocrites to boot?

The fact is, if liberals told the truth about anything, they wouldn't be liberals, they'd be conservatives. And so would the rest of America.
