May 3, 2002 -- Democrat Andrew Cuomo yesterday defended his stinging comments about Gov. Pataki's post-Sept. 11 leadership - the day after a poll showed he's slipped with voters in the gubernatorial race.

Cuomo insisted he was "telling the truth" when he charged last month that Pataki merely held then-Mayor Giuliani's coat after the terror attacks.
