WASHINGTON More than a half-dozen pipe bombs were placed in rural mailboxes in Illinois and Iowa on Friday, and at least two people were injured in explosions, the post office said.
None of the injuries was life threatening, postal vice president Azeezaly Jaffer said.
The pipe bombs were attached to batteries, he said, and he urged people in the area to call authorities if they find a pipe and battery inside their mailboxes.
Jaffer said the bombs were accompanied by a note threatening the government.
The first incident occurred about 11 a.m. when a rural letter carrier delivering mail near Mt. Carol, Ill., opened a mailbox and an explosion occurred, Jaffer said.
Other incidents occurred in Morrison, Ill.; Asbury, Iowa; Tipton, Iowa, and Elizabeth, Ill., he said.
Jaffer said the bombs were not sent through the mail but had been placed in the mailboxes.
He said the bombs appeared to be triggered by being touched or moved.
An Illinois postal worker was treated at Morrison Community Hospital for injuries to her eyes, shoulder and thumb, hospital officials said. She was expected to be released.
Or just internalized the jihadist psychological thinking into his already "psychological" view of the workings of the world.
Another note: instead of blaming capitalists, companies, etc., he seems to believe the government is the control of everything, even the "1%" statement is not segregated from government. I would think with Westerners there would be more distinguishing on this point, rant about corps. Maybe comes from a country where government controls much more than the West.
That is always my first thought also when things like this happen. But from what I have seen so far it looks like the blast may have been directed outward toward the door. If so, then it makes sense.
So here's my revised profile:
White male (Northern European extraction, either foreign or domestic)
High IQ
Loner, social misfit--his acquaintances and relatives think he's "weird"
At least 30 years old
Educated, but probably not college graduate; largely self-taught
Spends a lot of time at the library or bookstore or computer store, and gets into philosophical arguments with the staff, who are familiar with him from his frequent visits.
Spends time at home almost exclusively on the computer online.
Has received extensive, but not continual, psychological/psychiatric counseling, probably since adolescence.
Not politically active, but has an incoherent but firmly held argument on almost any subject.
Comes from middle-class, "normal" family (except for him).
I have a feeling it won't take long to catch this guy. Certainly not as long as the Unabomber.
I don't think he's an anti-globablist or anti-capitalist. So far, in my objective (LOL!) opinion, I think my husband nailed it with his "anarcho-libertarian" phrase. And there are plenty of Americans who dehumanize "the government" as some evil entity separate from themselves, that isn't made up of actual people (Big Brother), who think "the government" has too much control over our lives, hence the cries of "government tyranny" when arguing against something so mundane as seatbelt laws.
So, it's not the amount of government control, but this wacko's perception of government control that is relevant here. This letter is all about him, his ideas, his perceptions of reality. This letter is the product of his own warped mind with no basis in reality.
Ya really think so? I haven't "studied" the letter for hours yet, lol, but here's a gem:
When 1% of the nation controls 99% of the nations total wealth, is it a wonder why there are control problems?
Again, I'm going out on a limb here, but I believe that a highly intelligent (albeit deranged) individual would have written the sentence this way:
"When 1.0134% of the nations control 99.273% of the worlds wealth, is there any wonder that fruitcakes like myself will, on occassion, blow a cork and engage in senseless and futile violence?
...One who apparently feels his intellect far beyond the average, death fearing paeon that he must use synonyms to ensure a greater probability of being understood by us.
"You do things because you can and want (desire) to."
"To "live" (avoid death) in this society..." DUH...
"I'm here to help you realize/ understand"
This guy need to be put on serious meds, pronto.
That's exactly what it sounds like, although they also seem to be a little socialist (they are complaining about the majority of the wealth is tied up by a small number of people). But the note's pretty clear, they think they are warning people about the government/government control.
Wrong way to do it, they should be posting here, heh, but they wouldn't heard too loudly then.
"Christian Science" is a catchy name for a cult that is neither.
Your job? Then why you spending time here? We just shooting the breeze. I did say that the "fear of death" stuff might be muslim, OR might be the adoption by someone else of the jargon/concern. Tell me, you're the pro, ever hear of any domestic nut using such lingo?
Good luck Newbie! BTW, your name spelled backward means...fake? :)
