[history]
We've long marveled at what it takes to be acclaimed a civil liberties hero these days -- especially at universities, where politically correct speech codes dictate what may and may not be uttered on campus.
The newest hero to enter the pantheon of free-speech warriors in our time is the University of Missouri's Harris Mirkin, author of an article intended to undo our culture's delusion that there is something innately wrong with adults engaging in sex with children. As far as Dr. Mirkin is concerned, this is a backward view that may one day go the way of a lot of other uninformed prohibitions.

"
We might point out that the same could be said of human sacrifice. "
Great point, great editorial. There seems to be a bizarre movement afoot among academics and "progressives" to assert that anything, no matter how horrible, can be justified if it is found that it was done in the past somewhere along the line. Oddly enough, these are the same folks who carry on about evolution, human progress, etc.
Of course, doing otherwise would mean that they would have to admit that the things that have made Western society so great are its very prohibitions, for example, on human sacrifice, incest and use of children for sex, forced marriage of women, etc. And these prohibitions were all brought to us by that dread monster, Judeo-Christian morality. Gasp! Shriek! Faint!

There should be no taxpayer funding given to this type. It would not take long for it to cease this type of trash.

I'd be extremely reluctant to send my teenage daughter or son to a university whose professors espoused such a view.
The chancellor might view this as freedom of speech at this time, but let's see what he says when parents start complaining and pulling their kids out of the university. His view just might change a little.
Dr. Laura (whether you like her or not) has been right on the money as far as this issue is concerned. She has always asserted that there are liberals (or progressives or whatever) among us who want sexuality without any restraints to be the norm. She has also claimed that most with this view are the academic elite.
This RC Church issue has brought these sick puppies out of the wookwork.

I agree with the editorial 100%. But as for lauding the Judeo-Christian advances, (and I am a christian), I heap contempt on our efforts. I think of the Weyrich letter and all it means. I think of the current decade's brew ha ha re sexual perversions (homosexuals/pedophilia/swingers) but we will move on. We moved on before and gave up on the issues of prostitution (even teenagers) and topless bars and porn shops and peep shows and nudism and drugs of addiction and sexual abuse in prison and gambling and other vices. Why won't we all move on (after a suitably indeterminate period) from this era of condemning sexual perversions? I'm not mocking. I am grieving as the "city on the hill" crumbles. It's cracking walls and failing foundations lean ever further toward ruin in direct proportion to the march of secular humanism.

Note to self - renew my subscription to The Journal of Homosexuality. It's expensive, but like it says, "Members of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex (SSSS) may receive a 15% discount on subscriptions to this journal." Do you get the discount?

"Experts and the educated elite have...replaced what worked with what sounded good. Society was far more civilized before they took over our schools, prisons, welfare programs, police departments and courts. It's high time we ran these people out of our lives and went back to common sense." --Walter WilliamsAmen to that! WAAAAY past time to sent these crackpots and perverts packing.

Have been wondering when they, (homosexuals), would send someone crawling out of the hole they been hiding in for the past several monthes, to test the waters, and try some form of rationalization of their favorite activity,(indoctrination?). Will this do? Don't think so. I have already sent e to all the organizations that cut funding to the Boy Scouts, (for protecting their "flock"), has anybody else?

Are you going on "real men" cruise this year? I am trying to imagine my wife's reaction to such an announcement, but so far none of the scenarios is particularly positive or attractive ;)

I seem to remember a news story of a university having all computers removed from the accounting department, by the FBI, for 'alleged' selling or giving away software or something, to their friends, and anyone willing to pay. The story caught my attention because (from personal experience), I knew that the department is rife with members of La Raza, and associated gangs. Maybe the FBI will check up on this dude?

This cretin was on O'Reilly-he looked like a degenerate and sounded drugged.I don't know if he's a pedophile, but if my kids were still minors they wouldn't be allowed within a block of this apparition of evil.

"Note to self - renew my subscription to The Journal of Homosexuality." You can save the money for a subscription to The Journal of Mundane Behavior.
This is a legitmate journal. If you click on the link, wait a few seconds; they have a 6-second image (in bad taste) before you jump to the actual journal.
Or you could just subscribe to Heterodoxy...

Most of the academic elite that I have encountered are wimpy little bookwormish types that probably have a difficult time even getting any self sex much less convincing another person to participate. The old "Get an A for a lay" has been going on forever and is probably going to be supported as progressive by these "elite?" types for a long time.
