May 7, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - Israel yesterday said captured documents show Saudi Arabia had given about $135 million to Palestinian terrorist organizations and the families of homicide bombers in the past 16 months.
Officials at the Israeli Embassy said the families of bombers received an average of more than $33,000 - or about six years' income for a Palestinian worker - from several Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

All his other evil aside, this actually shows something positive about Arafat. He cares for the people and is willing to fight to get them what he believes they deserve.
It's strange. We've all seen the terror, violence and bloodshed this man is promoting, but here we see a side of him we wish we had in our leaders. Good leader in a bad cause? I don't know.
Thanks Dashole, for blocking drilling in a barren wasteland. We wouldn't want to stop funding terror now, would we? After all, fear of terrorism sends us running back to big government to protect us.
Read the whole thing. He's mad that Hamas and the bigwigs are getting the money instead of the families of the murderers.
And here we thought it was all about a twisted view of Islamic martyrdom. It's nothing more than the motivator in Stephen King's book "Running Man" (poor man means to lose his life in exchange for money for the family that will remain).
It's because when Tubby was offered U.S. money to make the place habitable, he turned it down.
And did you ever wonder where all that foreign aid money to the Palestinians is going? Somehow I don't think the cargo of the Karine A, for example, was going to do a lot for food, clothing, and housing needs.
Arafat's a man of the people, all right. But it's a constituency of one.
Aside from this incident, I do remember some of his other history. Far less than most leaders who are otherwise scum (Saddam, etc.) he doesn't live in opulence and extreme safety while his people live poor and go to slaughter. One of the reasons he is popular is that he is for his people and acts as one of them.
Of course all that wouldn't do anything to slow my trigger pull on the sniper rifle.
His home in Gaza is a veritable palace - but before Sharon nailed him down in Ramallah he spent most of his time flitting around the world in his private jet and living like royalty.
But not false?
I haven't kept track of him lately. Maybe after becoming "statesman" he started acting like one, at least the bad parts.
