Alan Davis, 46, created a giant sculpture of a bare torso and placed it in the front yard of his home on Alpine Street in Altamonte Springs. After a neighbor called 911 to complain that the statue was obscene, Davis allegedly got into a verbal confrontation with one of the deputies.

"He told me that he was going to move my statue and I quite flatly told him that he would have to talk with the Supreme Court of the United States," Davis said.

Davis reportedly locked himself inside his car after talking with the officers.

"I opened the door and I said, 'By the way, the name of the sculpture is kiss my ass and you could just do it,'" Davis said.

Davis was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.

Seminole County filed suit to foreclose on Davis' property earlier this year because of the piles of junk and scrap metal in his yard, Local 6 News reported.

Davis owes $300,000 in code-enforcement fines, according to Local 6 News

Hmmmm... this guy is too young to be A+Bert.
But it sure sounds like something the old coot would do!

Code enforcement fines...arrested for putting a statue in your yard. How distinctly Orwellian. Anyone started a fund for this guy yet?

They changed the emergency number to 91 there since the Democratic voters couldn't find the 11 on the phone pad.

I may not completely agree with the guy, but this don't sound hippie to me:

"The Government will violate your Rights to the extent that they can get away with it. Use the 1st Amendment to fight violations of your 4th and 5th Amendment Rights with a 2nd Amendment backup."

I saw a report on this guy on 20/20 or one of those shows.

While the guy raises some valid questions about property rights vs. community standards, he seemed to be a total A-hole, spoiling for a fight with his neighbors or a shootout with the police.

Instead of seeking to be a good neighbor and attempting to reach some compromises, he was belligerant, surly, and seemed like he had more than a few screws loose.

Good thing this nitwit didn't live in Texas. His neighbors would shrug and say something to the effect of "he needed killin'."

I'd like to see what some of the more Libertarian FReepers think. They are more known for ALWAYS taking the side that is not the government. Like when parents have malnurished kids but fight the gov, they will defend the redneck militia types.

You don't read too closely do you? The county is going to seize this guy's property without due process.

I saw this guy on "48 Hours" last week. This has been an ongoing battle with his neighbors for some time now. I got the impression that he is a very intelligent, nice guy and I couldn't understand why his neighbors didn't try to just get to know him.
Instead they call the cops and City Hall to harass him about the condition of his yard. Seems he's a sculptor of sorts and keeps a variety of 'found objects' on his property. Such as old WWII aircraft parts and automobile parts and such. He is not the type to back down. That's why he built the "Kiss my Ass" sculpture. To give his neighbors a real eysore to b!tch about.

While this guy may have a legitimate agreement - the article indicates he wasn't arrested for putting up the statue - he was arrested for smarting off to the cop.

Do you think he carved the sculpture himself?
