There will be one last parade for Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets Thursday at Kapalama Heights, as Kamehameha Schools prepares to shut down its JROTC program for good.

If you gave them a chance, they'd shut down the Boy Scouts, every ROTC program, every church-based organization, every home-schooler and anyone who believed in God, country or family.

I was in the ROTC program at Roosevelt HS in Honolulu in '63-'65. It was required for sophomores and juniors. I had no desire to continue with it in my senior year.

Da Blahs went to Kamehameha located in Popokalea, a predominately Hawaiian district. You had/have to be at least part Hawaiian to get into Kamehameha. That was/is a point of great pride to da blahs!
The Haoles went to Punahou.
Roosevelt, et.al., was up for grabs.
