US Congresswoman Barbara Lee shared this year's Aachen Peace Prize with German teacher Bernhard Nolz for their opposition to the American anti-terror war in Afghanistan, the press reported here Friday.
"Immediately following the (Sept. 11) attacks in New York and Washington she (Lee) called for a prudent reaction, taking also into account personal disadvantages," the Aachen peace committee announced, explaining the reason for its choice.
Democrat Lee was the lone dissenting voice when the US Congress approved a resolution on September 15, authorizing US President George W. Bush to use "all necessary and appropriate force" against anyone associated with the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The measure passed 98-0 in the Senate and 420-1 in the House of Repersentatives.
Lee, a pacifist, is still facing death threats and is under 24 hour police guard.
Meanwhile, the other prize winner Nolz lost his job teaching position in a school in the west German town of Siegen for harshly criticizing Washington's "unjust revenge war" during an anti-US pupils' demonstration.
The four-year-old Aachen peace award is being announced every year on May 8, marking Germany's liberation from Hitler dictatorship.

What does it matter? It doesn't matter a rats....whisker. I know they feel good about this but it's all about appearances for a small segment of the uninformed public.

I suppose these morons would've been against fighting back against Hitler as well. Hypocritical morons.

The award and $5 will get you a cup of coffee in California.
If I were her, don't bother putting the award on her resume. Not worth anything.

Lee, a pacifist, is still facing death threats and is under 24 hour police guard. Hmmm.... I wonder if she would support the idea that her police guardians should use "all necessary and appropriate force" to protect her.

Why wasn't there a projectile vomiting alert in the hedder on this one? Well, it's more of an eye-roller than a vomit inducer. Then again, "Aachen" does sound like somebody vomiting, so I guess it's covered, sorta.

This is the same idiot, mind you, who once asked if the probe that NASA had sent to Mars would be able to see "the flag that the astronauts left there."
If German teacher Bernhard Nolz found out about that, he'd probably insist on giving the award back.

This is the same idiot, mind you, who once asked if the probe that NASA had sent to Mars... I think that was Sheila Jackson-Lee (TX).

Hmmm.... I wonder if she would support the idea that her police guardians should use "all necessary and appropriate force" to protect her. Couple of weeks back the local NOW chapter staged its annual "take back the night" march, from Colorado College to the downtown area.
They had an escort of 4 cop cars -- a nice, if ironic, touch....

My mistake. Who the hell is Barbara Lee? Is she related to Robert E. Lee? LOL!
