(Click on link to go to story) Now what was the FIRST country to have intellectuals claim our war against terror was RACIST???
Well, it was tolerant Canada.
This is DISGUSTING. Where's Sharpton, Jackson??? Kevin Weekes most likely had NOTHING like this happen to him here, although he might have, but in a country with ridiculous race laws? Much to the legal professsion's dismay, race laws don't work...thanks for that, I guess, Canada.

Those hosers are some real jerks, eh?
To: Benrand
What is disgusting is to automatically assume this incident was racially motivated. He was playing for the visiting team and one banana was thrown at him. How do we know it was because he was black? This stuff happens all the time during rowdy hockey games.

I casually follow hockey, and used to be a goalie "back in the day", so that's the position I watch.
I didn't even know Weekes was black til I read this story. Another reason to boo Oh Canada...
To: Benrand
don't blame the canucks, as bannanas are themselves obviously racist, and ought be banned in canada...

OH, of course...bananas thrown at a black goalies are the usual things thrown at goalies. I'm sure Theodor, when he stinks, the first thing that come to the mind of a drunk Canuck is to throw a banana at him...
Suuuure....nice behavior from the all so sensitive Canucks. Good stuff, guys. Where the hell is DOn Cherry on this? The CBC? I have y to see any hew and cry. Probably won't, we wouldn't want to have the tolerant society disrputed. Yes, the US should become JUST LIKE canada...

I remember Big East basketball in the early '80s. When Georgetown came to Boston College the fans would hoist a bunch of bananas on a pole when Patrick Ewing came to the free throw line.
To: Benrand
Uh, not to nitpick here, but your post makes reference to "Bananas". The story only mentions "Banana", as opposed to plural.....

Call Gary Bettman, I'm misrepresenting some stupid aspect of this story. Therefore, the story isn't true.

Original Headline "
Black goalie Weekes has banana thrown at him Your headline is misleading to say the least and you've been around here long enough to know better. One idiot fan threw a banana.

Why is a banana a racist object to be thrown at a black guy? And, why did you make the title of this thread a plural reference to banana? Are you a race baiter?
To: Benrand
I've never been to a hockey game before but I'm sure all the fans bring bananas in case the goalie stinks.
(It sounds like one Canadian thought he was being a laugh riot for his buddies.)
To: Benrand
It was one fan out of 21,000 who attended that game. Should we blame all of you for 8 years of Clinton?
Where the hell is DOn Cherry on this? The CBC? I have y to see any hew and cry
Then you obviously don't watch Hockey Night in Canada. They talked about it the very next game.
To: Benrand
You were misrepresenting the story. One banana was thrown. We all know that among any group of people there is at least on a*hole. Your post implies that it is a community thing.
Plus, you didn't post the story, and made us all have to click the link, which is annoying.

Sorry if you missed the media outrage at the booing of the Canadian Nat'l Anthem by Detoriters.
Ok, I'm sorry to everyone ONE banana was thrown at ONE black goalie in a country that has ridiculous race laws. Yeah, forget it. It's of no issue here.
You should try watching CBC news, every story has some racial aspect.

Speaking of Theodor, when did he become JOEsEE? I thought it was HoSay. I mean is it San Joesee or San Hosay, Ca. Just wondering.

It's Jose, not Hose. He's not Hispanic.

Despicable.
The Candaians deserve to have their national anthem booed, and roundly.

Sorry if you missed the media outrage at the booing of the Canadian Nat'l Anthem by Detoriters Who said I missed it? The only reason it got so much attention was because it came on the heels of the deaths of 4 Canadian soldiers by American friendly fire.
