To: Shooter 2.5; CapandBall; chookter
Well, silly me! When the rules stated that shooting jackets were not allowed, I reasonably assumed that this meant that you were to put the butt of the weapon into your shoulder without any additional padding. That is the way that chookter and myself shot the event, him with an L1A1, and me with a Garand. Otherwise, what is the reason for specifying that shooting jackets are not allowed?

Yes, we took a bit of a beating while prone, but I thought that all of us would be in the same boat.

I just don't want anyone to get hurt and I know that there are a lot of shooters in this match who have never fired 30 rounds out of a centerfire rifle in one session before.
Shooting jackets have supports inside the jacket that support the body so much that it's like standing against a tree.
I have accidently laid the butt of a rifle onto my collar bone too many times to know that I don't want to do that anymore. I will shoot this match without any padding because I'm used to it.
