Of course Agatha Christie is fiction; but the principle is a good one. It applies in matters of crime, politics, and any and all other arenas where people do things and then want to disguise or hide what was done, how it was done, or who did it.

Lies are told, evidence is planted, the other party (political or otherwise) is blamed.
