Hmm lets see, more major train derailments in one year then in 10, more buildings exploding in one year then in 10, more planes

How many train derailments is the statistical average? What constitutes a "major" derailment? How many buildings exploded, on average, the last 10 years ? Do you have numbers, or are you just making stuff up?

I think JustAnAmerican is simply hearing about more of these incidents. They've always been going on but prior to 9/11 weren't considered newsworthy enough for anything more than local coverage.

As for airliners crashing, the truth is that accident rates are such a tiny fraction of what they were even two decades ago that the few that do occur get a disproportionate amount of ink.
