The FBI was sounding the alarm yesterday - again. This time, America is meant to be on the lookout for scuba-diving terrorists. Nothing more specific: just divers.

One of these days, the FBI will issue a warning - and something will blow up. Then the agency will be able - finally - to say:

Paging J. Edgar Hoover (with or without high heels).

But seriously, none of this incompetence would have been allowed to exist under his leadership.

Robert Mueller, the current FBI chief, truly doesn’t get it.

Mueller needs to go!

Actually, I find the FBI's ineffectiveness rather reassuring - sort of "thank God we don't get the government we pay for", else we would be surely up the proverbial creek without a paddle - and besides, folks, those who want to are now jiving us to the max, with endless stories about further atrocities to come. Every two bit Al Qaeda wannabe is spinning tall tales to beat the band. The dumb Americans eat it up. This is no way to fight a war.

You can add the outright corruption of the Boston office as presented in the current trial of John Connolly to this list.

Connolly was a partner in the Bulger gang takeover of the Boston rackets. Other agents framed innocent men and left them to die in prison....while a procession of Connolly's buddies got up on the stand to lie about their roles in these crimes.

The Archdiocese of Boston isn't the only institution that's rotten from the top down here in Boston

It's so bad in fact that Federal prosecutors are now relying on state police and DEA agents rather than Boston FBI.

Gay Edgar must be spinning in his red dress.

To a certain extent, so do I. None the less, they do have a job they are supposed to be doing. So do the CIA, NSA, and INS, all of whom leave much to be desired. The competition (primarily one of egos) between these groups is everything this side of retarded, and some on the other side. One hand never knows what the other is doing, and we the people bear the consequences.

Again, I reference my previous wildlife remark.

Basically, it's all career management.
You want "good busts" on your personnel file.
(please, no puns.)

Requests for searches being denied by a judge, or cases lost due to illegal search, seizure, procedure, look bad, and affect promotion.

The FBI needs to be able to take the hits when a search warrant request is denied, and likewise, when a case is lost.
Lost cases and denied warrants are the pervue of the Judge, and the FBI can at least, then point to the judge, and say, "We Tried".

Question is, where do we draw the line?
On the one hand, the FBI is constrained by Search Warrant constraints, and Civil Rights of the suspect(s).
On the other hand, we have protections from prosecution for Federal Law Enforcement that break the law in the performance of their duties. ( Lon Horiuchi & U.S. Marshalls, Ruby Ridge murders.)

If federal agents have that kind of protection against going to jail, their ONLY concern has to be "advancement in the organization".
It is patently obvious that federal agents will NEVER be prosecuted for a civil rights violation, or failing to get a proper search warrant, ( Waco, TX ) as long as they are acting within the scope of their duties.
In other words, lie if You have to, but make sure You search the computer one way or the other.

I don't approve of it, but the power to skirt the law is in their hands.
Most agents are simply too timid to use it.

To: glorygirl,MizSterious,Uncle BIll,B4Ranch,lawdog,archy,honway,STARWISE,MArianne,Prodigal Daughter,
FBI agent Ken Williams of Phoenix wrote his July 2001 memo about BIn Laden using hijacker pilots trained in Phoenix flight schools because Williams and the Phoenix office was fed information by FBI informant Collins for over three years about hijacker pilot Hanny Hanjour. ABC News reported this and the FBI and DOJ grudgingly admitted that Collins was indeed their informant on these matters.

The FBI knew in 1999 that Hanjour was training for a terror mission with a hijacked airliner just as the FBI knew in 1999 that Nawaii (Bin Lade's personal pilot), and hijacker pilots Attta and Al Shehhi had gone through the Norman, OK Airman flight school for terror mission training (FBI told AIrman Flight School director about this in 1999-reported in BOston GLobe).

Ken Williams went directly to the CIA with the contents of his memo and on the phone in July-Aug 2001 after the FBI and DOJ ignored his memo. THe CIA sent Bush a memo in Aug 2001 about Bin Ladn using trained hijacker pilots. Bush is blocking the Congress from seeing the details of the memo but the memo was based in part on the Williams memo that Williams discusse with the CIA in July-August 2001.

Also at the time of the CIA memo Bush ordered the FBI to drop the FBI investigation of Saudi campaign donars and business partners of BUsh (Khalid MAhfouz)in Aug 2001. These Saudis also included members of BIn LAdens family in the US and Saudi men donating heavily to the Holy Land Foundation using Bush attornerys Akin and GUmp for terror attacks against US targets.

Bush, AShcroft and Mueller have tried to say that they did not get the Williams memo until after 9/11 and say it would not have made a difference (BS). But the White House is now caught in a web of deceit because they in effect got the substance of the Williams memo via the CIA memo in Aug 2001. THe Bush White House now has no plausible deniablity. THe only thing saving Bush right now is the reluctance of TV media in making these connections becasue the TV media wants to help the Bush administration promote a false ME peace agenda with HAmas, Arafat and other Saudi government backed terror entities in the ME.

The FBI and DOJ have now reprimanded FBI agents like Rowley and Williams for going to the CIA when they were blocked by the FBI and DOJ. THe FBI and DOJ are being used to try and save the credibilty of the White House. Yet the White House, FBI and DOJ administrators are to be trusted to protect us from terrorism when they are still not being truthful about all this??

The White House , FBI and DOJ think they can escape accountability and the consequences for their negligience and perjury and lying by telling more lies to the American people. Even if the American people and COngress cannot or never will do anything to hold the FBI, DOJ and White House accountable, they will not escape being held accountable for their actions and lying. They still will be held accountable by the very terror attacks they warn us about but cannot stop because of their lying, negligience and deceit. God watches this in heaven and God holds these men in derision when they try to lie about their failures to protect innocent Americans.

...none of this incompetence would have been allowed to exist under his leadership.

I would say that this statement is the same as saying that he was a drag queen.

Too tired to look up the new book out on the FBI (Inside the FBI?). Hoover is very over rated, according to the author.

For instance, car theft was made a federal crime so that Hoover could get his "numbers" up, taking full credit
for the work and successes of the local constabulary.

Yeah, he had files, a portion of which he gladly shared with whoever was in power at the moment in order to keep his job.

And yes, the FBI will forever be incompetent, because it is to varying degrees, a political entity. Whether hampered by
PCness, bureacracy in general, or the corruptness of Web Hubbel or the incompetence of Janet Reno.

Hoover may very well have been a homosexual, but don't you think he was a bit too well known to be prancing around like
Julie Newmar? Probably more asexual, along the lines of Cecil Rhodes, IMHO. Absolute power over his little fiefdom was his sexual outlet.

(Then there's the Red Baron. In his autobiography, he implies that he was shooting more than bullets shooting down planes...)
