The US has approved on Thursday evening an international report concerning recommendations of the report which launches a presidential campaign against slavery.
The spokesman for the US state department Philip Reecker expressed in a written statement the satisfaction of the US State Department concerning the information disclosed by the report. Reecker added that the US State Department will concentrate now on the Sudanese government's implementation of the recommendations stated in the report, stressing that the first main task is to guarantee the commitment of all Sudanese sides especially the Sudanese government to taking necessary steps to eliminate the problem of slavery.
On Wednesday, a group of prominent figures from the US, Norway, Britain, Italy and France submitted the report to the Sudanese government in conclusion of the initiative which is supervised by the US special envoy for peace in Sudan John Danforth.
The report which drew the criterion for the controversial slavery issue concluded that slavery exists in Sudan but the group was not able to draw a criterion for the problem.
The report urged the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir to lead the initiative in order to launch a campaign against slavery and called for releasing every detained person sentenced to hard labor.
The report said that the Sudanese government's starting of a campaign of that sort, together with effective efforts might help to a large extent to revive the peace process forward and to restore back the international confidence entrusted into Sudan.
