This is why the 7 million government workers who are not in Social Security but have 100% private plans should be forced into Social Security (or better yet, let everyone have a private plan they control).
If we don't stop this, government unions will own the Fortune 100 someday. That is the definition of economic fascism.

It's also a reason why Bush's plan to privatize social security may be a bad idea. It might do better for the individual beneficiary, but do we really want the government buying up the whole stock market?

We used to be acquainted with a very liberal couple. She worked for Social Security, he was a "house husband." One day I was ranting about government taking our money and she perked up and stated that, "we don't take any money from anyone, we just give it to people that need it." She also revealed that her retirement fund was not SS!
PS-They lived in Vermont. The home of Jumpin' Jim Jeffords!
