Oh I don't know if I can watch it. Its going to be so heart-wrenching re-living that day. I can remember going into my building and complaining about a truck driver not stopping to let me pass thinking that my day was gonna be rotten. Then I hear screams and crying from my co-workers and I look out the window and see the smoke and stuff while I posted on Free Republic. I can remember that day from beginning to end.

I'm not sure if I can watch it, either. Just reading about 9/11 makes me tear up, and I still can't walk in that part of Manhattan without remembering the dead and what happened that day.

But I think it's a good thing that the media are reviving 9/11, because a lot of Americans seem to have short memories, or at least a lot of media commentators, politicians, and intellectuals seem to have short memories. Bush said we are in this war for the long haul, and maybe people need to be reminded why.

Then, amid the horrified exclamations, comes a third, angry voice: "Don't take pictures of that!"

But pictures were taken. Video was shot

I really understand those who objected to recording the horrors of that day.

But I remember when Gen. Schwarzkopf hosted a 50th Anniverary of Pearl Harbor special
on ABC (just months after Desert Storm).
He said that the US government had seized press photographers film used
to photo garbage cans full of amputated limbs from the hospitals that took in the wounded
in the aftermath of Dec. 7th, 1941.
(I suspect this was to not offend the sensitivities of the American public...AND...
to make sure that all Japanese-Americans won't lynched en-masse in one night of
mis-directed revenge.)

Knowing how august, elite institutions including the likes of The Smithsonian Institution
like to re-write history...I then determined that no matter how hideous, history must be fully
and faithfully recorded.

Thanks to all the cameras and video-cams in the hands of professionals and amateur
citizens...there most likely won't be a successful revision of what happened
9-11-01.

"I was grabbing the dust from the ground, thinking he was in it," she says"

This statement is ripping me apart.

I've always wondered how many horrifying answering machine messages there are out there, after people in the WTC tried to contact loved ones unsuccessfully. Keeping things like this on record are important.

I hope some will post after the show, and let us HBO-less know how it was. I need to find someone with HBO so I can tape a rerun ...

I just watched the first part and saw footage of the planes I had never seen before. And with every frame played, September 11th came crashing back into my memory.

The exact moment I found out.
Who I was talking to.
Where I was.
The frantic search for a television.
The eyewitness accounts on freerepublic.

Every detail, every minute, and every second of that day came back... and so did the tears, the continual crying, the sorrow, and the anger.

I am still crying as I think of that day. It's etched into my psyche forever- in our psyche forever. We will never forget.

If you don't have HBO, have someone you know tape it for you.

EVERY STINKING DEMONCRAT IN THE COUNTRY, TUM DASHOLE, DICKY GEPHARD ET AL SHOULD BE FORCED TO WATCH THIS SHOW OVER AND OVER. IT IS THE TRUE LEGACY OF THE CLINTON ERA. MAKES ME SICK AFTER SEEING IT LIVE AND NOW THIS SHOW, THEN WE HAVE TO LISTEN TO THE DEMONCRATS COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR BEING LEFT OUT OF ALL THE INTELLIGENCE. FROM EVERYTHING I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD IN THE PAST MONTHS, I CAN ONLY CONCLUDE THAT THE LIBERAL DEMONCRATS IN THIS COUNTRY WERE THE CAUSE OF 9-11, BIN LADEN AND THE SICK MUSLIMS WERE ONLY THE TOOLS.

Muslims will hold parties with noisemakers and cakes shaped like the towers.

They will toast the hero martyrs, then toast the next ones to come.

Some won't be able to attend the party, having to work at the nuclear power plant or on the luggage ramp at the airport.

Ugh...the description of the "pop" is just horrible. I was at Fenway Park the night Bryce Florie took a ball off the face...I could hear the "pop" from that all the way in the back of the bleachers, and to this day it's the sickest sound I've ever heard. I can't even imagine the horrible sounds and images that haunt the survivors of 9/11.

This special was so moving, so well done, and so painful to watch.
It should be shown on regular channels, however, so all could see it.
Painful though it is, it is the reason we are at war, and a better reason has not existed in our generation.
