I would not give them a state on the moon.I'd like to see them get one in hell.

The United States and its allies employed it on a grand scale in WWII at Dresden, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, and to a lesser extent in smaller conflicts. The Palestinians can't muster a nuclear device or a bomber fleet, so they are forced to act incrementally The United States was responding to a fanatical maniac who was beyond the reach of logic. Israel has so far restrained itself by not responding like we did. And the ony thing the Palestians are "forced" to do is act like civilized human beings. If they act like wild animals then they need to be treated like any rabid animal.

The Palistine you speak of was comprised of present day Jordan and does not include any of the land in the West Bank or in the Gaza Strip, nor in present day Isreal. Yassir and friends should be moved to Jordan.

The "palestinians" are trans-Jordanians. The fact that arabs
lived there means nothing re: a sovereign state.
The "Palestinians" still live there now, nothing has changed in that regard.
And furthermore, if the "Palestinians" had any brains (which they don't). They would have assimilated themselves into a democratic society where other arabs thrive, and prosper. where they would have more human rights than they would ever have under any other arab-fascist Islmic autocracy.
They could have had it all, but they chose hate instead. they deserve every misery they get, and more.
So why don't you go stick that in your history book, so you can get it right next time.

The evidently managed to conceal it from the Arab governments from 1948 through the early 1970s too, since during that period they denied that Palestine was anything other than part of Jordan.

"The ruthless bombing from the air of civilians in unfortified centers of population during the course of the hostilities which have raged in various quarters of the earth during the past few years, which has resulted in the maiming and in the death of thousands of defenseless men, women, and children, has sickened the hearts of every civilized man and woman, and has profoundly shocked the conscience of humanity. If resort is had to this form of inhuman barbarism.. ..hundreds of thousands.. will lose their lives. " - Franklin D. Roosevelt criticzing the Governments of France, Germany, Italy, Poland and His Britannic Majesty, on September 1, 1939, 6 years before the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Got a proper citation for this? I find it highly suspicious. Poland never atttacked civilians; France and Britain hadn't done so prior to WWII, and Germany and Italy had done so on a relatively limited basis (Germany at Guernica; Italy in Ethiopia, for example.)
Frankly, ladies and gentlemen, it appears that we have hear is yet another snot-nose liberal poseur, attempting to cloak his ignorance of history with third hand 'quotes' from google.com and an attitude of supercilious superiority.
G'way with you, lad. I give D's to smarter kids than you every semester.

As His Heinous Yasser Arafat has claimed the Med, let them have their state in the very bottom of the sea!
To: JoeGar
Because Israel couldn't get away with it in the UN, in the State Department, in the EU.

The Israeli's and their supporters can dish out all the misery they'd like, but they shouldn't erupt into self righteous shreiking when reciprocation occours. You seem to have it backwards. It is the Israelies who are responding to the "misery" that is being dished out to children committing the "oppression" of playing basketball. Or should Israel not respond?
You seem to be suffering from the same delusion that the Palestian fanatics suffer from.

I don't understand why the Israelies don't play tit for tat
Part of the problem is they do. IMO the IDF needs to do some more house cleaning.

So I guess the only solution is to kill some more basketball players until they are free! You are indeed a fanatic.

There has NEVER been an independent state or country called "Palestine", certainly never such an Arab or Muslim nation. In fact, in the 19 years after 1948 when Jordon and Egypt controlled Jerusalem, the "West Bank" and Gaza they never gave a single thought to creating such an independent nation. Didn't Jordon in fact annex the "West Bank" as part of Jordon? The fact is that all of what is now called "Palestine" is the historical homeland of the Jewish people- reflected in the FACT that the "West Bank" used to be called Judea and Samaria- and still is by Jews living there today. For an interesting perspective by a Jew living there now http://www.israelinsider.com/views/articles/views_0404.htm

Surely you jest. That is probably the most oft repeated quote in any media dealing with that subject. I've seen it, usually quoted in full, in no less than 1 out of every 2 history papers on the subject I've ever read, which is quite a few. Its complete title is the following: Appeal of President Franklin D. Roosevelt on Aerial Bombardment of Civilian Populations, September 1, 1939. Google away :) Let me help you here. "It's all over the place" is not a citation. If you were present at the speech, and took notes, you can dispense with a citation. Otherwise, you need to give a source, page numbers, date, and publisher.
And I notice you avoided addressing the question of when, prior to 1939, Britain, France and Poland had bombed civilian populations. Would you like to retract your statement that Roosevelt was chiding those nations in this speech?
They hand out D's at fundamentalist degree mill's? ;) A real college professor would have gone to the trouble of at least faking some intellectual honesty.
My CV is on line and cited in my profile. Where's yours? (Just email it to me. You won't be here long enough for it to be worth doing a profile.)
As it happens, I suspect 'fundamentalist degree mills' have, in the main, far higher standards of grading than most departments of the humanities, where 'A' generally stands for 'Attendance'. I know when I was at Harvard the median grade was a low A-, and it's only gotten worse since.

The Palestinians are as distinct a people as almost any in the Near East and Europe. In other words, not very distinct at all. However, that is a inconsistent basis upon which to deny the fact that Palestine has historically been considered a nation because precisely the same can be said about many European and Near Eastern nations. If your argument is that Palestine is every bit as much a nation as the former Yugoslavia, I think we can agree.
However, Palestine was never considered a nation prior to the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. The empire was carved up in a pretty much arbitrary fashion between the mandate powers and a couple of Arab families. What made the Palestinians or Palestine a distinct group? Certainly not language or religion. Nor was Palestine ever a distinct admnistrative unit under the Ottomans. The first time it ever existed as a unit in any distinct fashion was as the British Mandate in 1920, or more precisely in 1921 after they'd split off Transjordan.
After all, 'Palestinian'; is such a nebulous term that Egyptians like Edward Said can claim it as a nationality, and get away with it!
