The relationship between the NCC churches and CDR predated Jones – for example, the United Methodist Church Board of Church and Society had been involved with the CDR for several years

Seems every time I read about the United Methodist Church anymore, they are embracing more and more liberal ideology. I'm about ready to drop UMC and become a Catholic. If my grandmother hadn't been such a rebel and left the Catholic church, I would be one now, I reckon.

We opted out of the Lutheran Church to join the Roman Catholic Church. It was a radical decision as my family had been devout Lutherans for many generations. However, I could no longer tolerate the moral relativism infecting the Lutheran leadership. I think that much of it is being resisted by Lutheran congregations at the local level, but the ones in decision-making positions are continuously placing gay marriage, abortion, gay ordination, etc. on their agendas.

Even after the priest pederasty scandal, I am sure we made the right decision and pray that the Pope and leaders in the Vatican will demonstrate strength in opposing the attack by the left on The Church following the scandal.

Attend a mass, you will be glad you did. Catholicism holds all the spiritual, ritual, and symbolic beauty we longed and hoped for.

Here's another good reason to leave the UMC:

11 October 1999

United Methodist General Board of Church and Society Opposes
Boy Scouts Anti-gay Policy

This is a statement of the General Board of Church and Society of The United Methodist Church, adopted by the Board October 10, 1999. The general board is directed to "speak its convictions, interpretation, and concerns to the Church and to the World."

Since its inception in 1910, over eighty-seven million youth and adults have joined the Boy Scouts of America. Churches sponsor 62 percent of Boy Scout troops, or 55 percent of all boys in scouting at all age levels. The United Methodist Church sponsors 11,738 units, accounting for 421,579 boys in scouting.

While the General Board of Church and Society would like to enthusiastically affirm and encourage this continuing partnership of the church and scouting, we cannot due to the Boy Scouts of America’s discrimination against gays. This discrimination conflicts with our Social Principles.
