The American nation began as a primitive rural economy. It took many decades to build the American economic and industrial system. Whether other nations like it or not, they are going to need to recapitulate that process. There is no substitute for that process. It can be hastened somewhat through the availability of ideas and invention, but it can not be bestowed in immediate time at convenience.

So true. Kind of explains why leaders over their may be hesitant to start off on a new path......no demonstrable benefits when "elections" roll around.
