A Sierra Times Daily News Alert Post
Boulder Dam Closed due to Terrorist Threat
A Sierra Times Special Report
BOULDER DAM (14:30 Pacific Time) - The Sierra Times has confirmed with both the Nevada and Arizona Highway Patrol that
Boulder Dam (U.S. 93) was abruptly closed as of 12:30 Pacific Time due to a 'terrorist threat'. Highway authorities are
giving no estimated time as to when the dam will be re-opened.
Police say that a suspicious object was found in a lot on the Arizona side.
All traffic between Phoenix and Las Vegas must use the Laughlin Nevada detour north for Kingman for northbound traffic,
and south of Railroad Pass for southbound traffic
The visitors center at Hoover Dam is closed at this time. Officials say U.S. Highway 93 over Hoover Dam will be closed
until further notice.
Don't worry. If you don't live in the areas of Southern Nevada, Southern California, Phoenix, Tucson, or Flagstaff, this
report doesn't affect you.

This is getting pathetic. Time to shut the doors and find out who in the house. One of these days, one of these threats are going to become reality.
To: FresnoDA
Its probably nothing, all you need to do now is leave an unmarked package on a bridge, dam or building and the bomb squad gets called in.

Police say that a suspicious object was found in a lot on the Arizona side. Seems like it would have to be a mighty big object to be a threat to Boulder Dam.

Hoover Dam closed by bomb scare
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Hoover Dam and U.S. Highway 93 were closed to vehicle traffic Thursday to let a bomb squad examine an unidentified object in a parking lot.
The 12:30 p.m. closure created lines of traffic for miles on the Nevada and Arizona sides of the Colorado River landmark, said Gary Bryant, dam facilities manager.
He said the object, about the size of a one-gallon coffee can, was left at the lower parking area on the Arizona side of the dam.
"We don't know what it is," he said. "For safety, because it's so close to the road, we called the bomb squad."
Bryant and Bob Walsh, spokesman for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which operates the dam, said the bomb experts were summoned from Las Vegas, 30 miles west. Neither knew immediately which agency was providing the team.
Bryant said the visitor center on the Nevada side of the dam, about a quarter-mile from the object, remained open.
The highway is a main route between Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Motorists were detoured about 60 miles south on U.S. 95 to cross the Colorado River between Laughlin, Nev., and Bullhead City, Ariz.
Commercial tractor-trailer and bus traffic has been banned and police have searched passenger cars at permanent checkpoints on both sides of the dam since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
No updates, awaiting clearance to rinse.

Yeah, but just think how much more comforting it is knowing that Hillary Clinton is making National Security her top priority.

If the terrorists damage a dam, the Euphtates dam in Iraq should be no more.
