May 31, 2002 -- WASHINGTON - A powerful D.C. lobbying house has been shaken by its controversial contract with Saudi Arabia and its link to hard-hitting anti-Israel ads, sources told The Post.

"There's unease," confirmed Stuart Pape, managing partner of Patton Boggs, a Washington lobbying institution.

"I thought it was Cokie's brother, actually."

Her father was a very big 'Rat Congressman. If the firm was named for her brother, it only exists because of the father. I believe he died in a weird small plane crash in Alaska.

When I saw those ads I wondered, "Someone, somewhere was overpaid a great deal of money for this."

Remember the WTO conference in NYC when the Saudis seriously believed they could conduct a 'charm offensive' there ? Whoever told the Saudis that throwing around big tips would make New Yorkers forget the new hole in the sky when they look up (That is something I think people miss. Wherever you were in southern Manhattan, when you looked up you could see the Twin Towers. They were a massive day to day part of our lives and our city.) was doubtless paid a great deal for that wonderful advice too. So before gettting too upset, we should perhaps thank Qorvis for performing the necessary and beneficial public service of separating fools from their money by persuading the Saudis that their problems can be fixed by p.r.
