It's good to see this thread has stayed up, despite the best efforts of the 'barbarians' to get it pulled.

This is/was a good thread. It was a good discussion of policy. It was substantive. I presented some criticisms I had of Bush about him signing the Farm Bill ... but thread was posted in a spirit of good news, it carried a positive vibe ... because this item IS POSITIVE news for supporters of the President.

The vandals around here can't abide anything positive being enjoyed on FR. So they show up to cover the area with feces. I, for one, am getting sick of it. There are enough threads around here dedicated to bedwetters sharing their inhuman suffering and oppression here in 2002 America. I don't want them going out of their way to blow up threads that give some of us cause for optimism and confidence.

When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it. "Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today.

"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it."

Ronald Reagan, from his autobiography, An American Life

It's like Reagan was personally talking to many FReeps when he wrote this.
