A couple hundred bucks will buy alot of dry food. Canned food has a long shelf life, no reason not to have extra. 50 gallon food quality water barrels are inexpensive and not that hard to find. It only makes sense to take reasonable precautions at times like these. Not to say the sky is falling but it doesn't hurt to look up every now and then.
