I think the senator/s should just butt out. The land I'm sure is privately owned and I'd be furious if congress was telling me what to build on property that's worth millions.
The Port Authority owns the site, so it is government-owned. They are not going to put something up that does not make them any money. Even a public park and memorial would bring in more dough than this.
There is another reason why this idea is absurd. The top public high school in the city, Stuyvesant High School, is located six blocks north of Ground Zero, in a new building.
Just shows the lack of knowledge her and her staff have for the area they serve.
