"Yeah -- he should have. But both he and the Whitehouse seem to be doing a pretty good job of mid-course corrections on this topic."

True. While W has a much larger house to keep in order, he is ultimately accountable and Rush could have done his homework before mouthing off as he usually does....

Rush had a great track record when he was on the other side of the fence, lobbing fusilades at Clinton. In the same manner that Newt was superb at engineering the 1994 takeover, but rotten at governence. It's easy to project one's ideals when in Opposition, but he's fallen into the trap that because he holds certain things to be truthful, then they are, ipso facto :-)

I'm afraid that hubris has taken hold of Rush, and his dogmatism about the correctness of his opinions and how they SHOULD be applied in a political manner enforces his diminishing effectiveness.I'll take Rove over Rush, anyday :-)Pragmatism,incrementalism and practicality may not suit the true believers, but they are conservative traits and make politics bearable.

The WH did what they were supposed to do by law... It was all Rush yesterday that got it wrong... Big time.

I agree that Rush blew it yesterday. To the best of my memory, yesterday evening was the first time I joined the Rush bashers here.

He still has "George W. Algore" up on his web site.

Part of the reason Rush had "a great track record" against the Bubbites is that finding crapola wrong with them was like shooting fish in a barrel.

Bubba's character (lack thereof) was such that, no matter how bad you might imagine the story behind the headline to be, it actually was worse.

Thankfully, the opposite is true with this administration. Rush is still in the imagining-the-worst mode when that just doesn't work in anlyzing a White House made up of persons of integrity.

The Rush web site doesn't appear to have been updated from yesterday yet. I'll wager it won't have this crap in a few more hours.

And Rush still needs to do major surgery to distance himself from the debacle of that George W. Algore comment. Leaving it flying as a banner on his website doesn't show much sense, but then neither did putting it up there in the first place.

Now Rush's big mouth has left the President wrongly open to the charge by envirowhackos that he, the President, caved to Rush (by dismissing the report), when, from all accounts, it appears to be Rush that got taken to the White House woodshed.

Talking about giving the enviros a boost, Rush, Drudge and Sean have done more for treehuggers in the last 24 hours than that dumb report could have done in perpetuity without the outrage and visibility they quite incorrectly created.

What this all says to me is that many of us raising hell on this forum, and Rush raising hell on his radio show, is something that got the attention of Bush.

What it also says is that Bush understands that the base of conservatives is mad at him, in general, and that he better not ignore them so much anymore.

Lest he be a one-termer like X41.

Yup - Karl Rove and Bush know they need to keep the support of the folks that got them there, and they are pretty quick on the political come-back when the need arises.

Whoever did the "education" of Rush from the Whitehouse did a nice job. And the AP report that Bush has "dismissed the report", and distancing Bush from the beauracracy, showed nice quick reflexes on the part of the Whitehouse.

I'm feeling better today, about both Bush and Rush.

i told you all that if i were proven wrong in my reaction to this that i would admit it. i was not able to hear rush the last two hours today, but if what tpc said above is correct, then here is my admission. i jumped the gun on this one. [eating crow]

I wouldn't eat crow. You have no reason to admit jumping the gun.

Bush may very well act as if this report were the absolute truth.

He may just be paying lip service, in the way Clinton said, "The era of big government is over," in one of his SON addresses. LOL.

I would keep Bush's feet to the fire.

Is W going to can the "bureaucrats" in the so-called "bureaucracy" that published this report, in his administration's name?

Of course he's not.

Unless W starts dismantling this crazy federal leviathan, then he, in effect, endorses it.

Rush was right to crack on W for associating his administration with this report, and I am simply not impressed that he "dismisses" it.

Let him put his money where his mouth is, and start dismantling some of the EPA sewer where this garbage ferments.

Periodically, yes.

So, why are my opinions and perceptions less valid than yours? What makes your opinion so superior?;-)

In today's day and age, why does anyone need Rush Limbaugh? If you are a fan, you probably are thinking the same thoughts as he, so maybe you don't need him.

Well thanks (blush). Actually I wouldn't mind being a librarian, or better yet, a researcher. I don't think that's in the cards, though.

Back to the original topic, I happened to listen to Rush's first hour today, and get this: If I heard him correctly, he said he called the White House yesterday, and convinced bush to publicly repudiate the UN report!

I'm sure everybody knows by now, but Bush said "He has read the report written by the bureaucrats", and does not support it.

...which brings up some other questions. If Bush seriously disapproves of what the EPA has done, then some heads will roll. Frankly, I'm skeptical. It seems like he's working both sides of the street here.

...and does Bush really nead a talk-show host to tell him what to think? This is what the RATS will say, of course.

:)

i'm listening to one of my favorite conservative radio talk show hosts, carl wigglesworth in san antonio, who is talking about this issue.

he feels that bush is trying to "back away" from this report put out by HIS bureaucracy--that he is playing both sides. did he know or not what the report said that HIS administration put out there?
