I have watched two soccer games in my life. One was the Tampa Bay Rowdies against the Jacksonville somebodies (I think), and one of the Jacksonville players received a light tap and went down rolling around on the ground. I was 5 at the time, and yet I remember thinking that the guy was faking it and that soccer players were not real men.
A few years ago, in the last world cup, I was watching one of the games with Croatia in it (my best friend is Croatian). The big star of Croatia went up for a header I think. A guy on the other team barely touched him. When he landed, he was fine. He took a few steps and saw that the ref was looking at him, so he started to pretend that he was hurt.
This confirmed my earlier view that Soccer is not for real me, especially since Croatia is a manly place otherwise.
The Oilers countered with the trick knee defense. If the situation was third down and long, one of the Oilers would grab his knee, fall over, and wait for the trainers (and the extra defensive backs) to come running out. Cheating is always bad, but it is especially bad when it is against your favorite team.
I can't stand that. I don't like it in any sport, and I don't tolerate that on my football teams, and neither do any of the players. If there is a real injury, that's one thing, but if it's a tap, get up and fight it out.
Yea ! And when is baby seal clubbing going to be in the olympics?! < / sarcasm >
