Gun-mad teachers jailed (UK)
UK Sun ^ | June 6, 2002 | JOHN ASKILL

Posted on 06/06/2002 7:43:32 PM PDT by Mulder

TWO gun-mad teachers were behind bars last night after hiding a sickening arsenal of weapons at their homes. The obsessed pair had hoarded their lethal collections despite a nationwide ban after the Dunblane massacre six years ago.

Cops found THIRTEEN handguns at the home of primary school teacher Thomas Hosty, 53. He also had two CS gas canisters, a stun gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Ex-secondary school master Borys Dmytrenko, 49, kept two loaded handguns by his bed.

Hosty was jailed for 12 months and Dymtrenko for six at Derby Crown Court after admitting possessing illegal firearms and ammunition.

They were trapped in a massive police operation designed to halt the rocketing supply of guns to Britain’s crime gangs.

Instead police found a network of middle-class gun nuts who had refused to hand in weapons after Dunblane — when madman Thomas Hamilton killed 16 children and their teacher — and the Hungerford horror of 1987.

Many of the guns had been converted, some had their appearance changed and some had serial numbers shaved off.

They included a Smith & Wesson .38 revolver and a double-barrelled .22 Derringer pistol.

Hosty had kept one of the handguns fully loaded in a bedside cabinet at his home in Shaw, Greater Manchester.

He and retired teacher Dmytrenko, of Oldham, Greater Manchester, were members of the Diggle gun club in Oldham.

Last night a police source said: “We were shocked that two teachers, one at a primary school, should be involved given the horrors of Dunblane.

“But what is more shocking is that this appears to be the tip of the iceberg. We are finding weapons turning up all over the place as a result of this investigation.

“Previously intelligence has suggested weapons coming in from Eastern Europe. But many of the handguns used in gangland killings and murders across the UK have originally come from sources like this within this country.

“We are sure that a great many firearms are still being held illegally by gun obsessives such as these and that is obviously a danger to the public.”

He added: “Hosty said he had guns to protect his family because there had been a rise in crime in his area.

“But there had been no more than a handful of crimes in the past two years.”

Four other men appeared in court on firearms charges. Fireman Howard Foster, 42, of Halifax, West Yorks, got a six-month suspended sentence. Engineer James Whitehead, 64, of Shaw — who police said converted many of the guns — will be sentenced later.

Anton Ramsden 60, of Shaw, and John Hoarden 51, of Macclesfield, Cheshire, were given community service orders.

If England is ever invaded again, they should not come to America asking for arms as they have done before.

Holy Mackerel! They'd put me away for 10 consecutive life terms!

By the way, it is interesting that they going after middle-aged white guys- how about some of their violent ethnic gangs (which abound in Britain now)? Oh, I forgot- you could get hurt by those people- best to leave them be...

If the Supremes fail us with the "Emerson" case, this will be our future.

hundreds of rounds of ammunition

For a handgun, that is one trip to a range.

Apparently so. Pretty small gun collection, actually. Also, there appears to be no suggestion that ANY of these weapons were ever used in a crime, sold to a criminal gang, or otherwise misused.

I am VERY glad I do not live in Great(?) Britain!

That all depends on what kind of "futures" the tyrannical vampires who try to implement such a treasonous scheme will face.

I'll venture to guess that they will, once all is said and done, fare no better than King George III or Santa Anna did.

And that's a best-case (from the viewpoint of the tyrants) scenario.

This is what is on the democratic party's platform. This is what they have been promising the American People. This is what the 95% of the gun owners want by sitting by and doing nothing.

a sickening arsenal
Guns made the two collectors sick? Was it contagious? Involve a runny nose? The Sun must suffer from a serious germ phobia.

LOL! A lot of us would be in that boat.

At least the tyrannical Brits can't do that here.

That issue was settled at Yorktown, and tyrant-wanna-bees would do well to learn from that lesson.

My e-mail to their "letters to the editor":

Very impressive story. Two terrible criminal teachers were arrested and their firearms confiscated. Oh the horror. While the police were wasting time bothering two teachers that committed no offense against any person, armed CRIMINALS are walking the streets and committing crimes against disarmed subjects of the crown. You people have your priorities all screwed up. The government is busy disarming the good people while the criminals are busy on the streets. Most of the people in my little town own and carry loaded firearms. Our violent crime rate is 56% below the national average in the USA. Armed criminals do not dare walk our streets. They prefer big cities like Washington, D.C. and Chicago, IL where guns are forbidden to citizens and murder rates are astronomical. When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns. Your country is a living example.

" I'll venture to guess that they will, once all is said and done, fare no better than King George III or Santa Anna did. "

I don't think so. When you only have 4.3 million in the NRA and maybe another million in all of the gun groups combined, why should I think the 95% of the gun owners will do something when it's death defying and they won't do something now when it's easy.

"Still, if you will not fight for the right when you can easily win without bloodshed; if you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Winston Churchill

Same here. This article shows what happens when a government views it's citizens as "subjects" instead of "Free men and women".

Thirteen handguns? That's less than what's on my Christmas list. I wouldn't know how to pare it down to just thirteen. And of course that doesn't begin to count the shotguns, the deer rifles, the the the. . .

This is truly Orwellian. The British authorities go after these poor schmucks and are doubtless going to lock them up forever and ever, just like they locked up that unfortunate farmer who was convicted of defending his life and property from psycho young criminals last year. But the monsters are out there roaming the streets and plotting the destruction of the West, and the Brits leave them alone. We are watching the suicide of a once-glorious nation, folks.
